Do not use any providers who operate under the name Top Surgeons.

Their lap band weight loss surgery center is a scam. They have billboards everywhere promoting 1-800-GET-SLIM.

They lure you into your local weight loss center (Apple Valley, Bakersfield, Beverly Hills, Covina, Long Beach, Palmdale, San Bernadino, Santa Ana, Valencia, or West Hills) for a consultation and immediately want you to go to their surgery center that is located in Beverly Hills for preliminary lab tests and an endoscopy (upper g.i.).  They want to get you into their surgery center as soon as possible before you realize the whole thing is a sham.

They have billed my insurance $36,915.00 and I didn't even have the surgery!!! I only had the lab tests (urine, blood) an EKG, endoscopy and the farce of the consultations. 

I believe this is how they make the majority of their money by herding overweight desperate people into their Beverly Hills Surgery Center to run the initial lab tests and upper g.i. while knowing that the majority of patients won't be approved for the surgery by their insurance. They don't even send for approval from your insurance until after you visit the Beverly Hills Surgery Center and incur these charges. Why care if a patient is approved for the actual surgery when they bill your insurance like that for the preliminary tests? They are hoping to receive as much as they can because they know you won't be coming back for the lap band. 

When you are denied after having these tests run, you won't be able to contact them and they won't return your calls. When they do answer their phones they greet you with "Weight Loss Center", "Medical Office" or "Surgery Center".  They never state who they actually are.  That is just plain weird.
