We purchased a car from Toyota of Dallas back on March 19, with the help of a co-signer due to our credit problems.
The deal was finished and all the contracts were signed and we had possession of the vehicle. We were told multiple times by the salesman and the sales manager and finance people that our deal was finished and the car was ours.
The dealership called us back on March 28 to tell us that we needed to come back in and re-do the paperwork because there was a problem with our financing. They said that all the paperwork had to be re-done and resubmitted for approval.
We told them that our part of the deal was done and that we were sorry that they had a problem but we would not be returning. My husband mentioned to them that it sounded like they were trying to pull what is known as a "Spot Delivery Scam" (do a search for this on google - you'll find plenty of info on this scam) on us and all hell broke loose.
They started claiming that there was no deal and that they would need the car back immediately. We told them that we would not be returning anything until our attorney had a chance to review all of the contracts. My husband returned to the dealership to pick up our copies of the contract and the dealership refused to hand them over.
They even went so far as to offer to rip up the contract right in front of him. He refused. Then they started threatening to report our new vehicle as stolen and have us arrested. (Which would be filing a false police report.) They also threatened to have the vehicle repossessed. (Which would be theft.)
Our attorney contacted them on Monday and requested the copies of our contracts. They only sent the form that was their "deal-breaker". It was a conditional sales agreement. Our attorney noticed on the paperwork that our co-signer was listed as the primary purchaser and we were listed as the co-signer.
It turns out that this is all part of the scam. The dealership intentionally fills out the paperwork incorrectly so they can get you back in to the dealership to re-sign everything. When they get you back in to sign everything again, they will try to raise the interest rate, the down payment, or the monthly payments in order for them to make more money off of the deal.
The dealerships will usually try to pull this scam on people with bad credit because they know that they will usually be willing to do anything to get the new vehicle. Apparently people like us are more desperate.
They are definitely not used to people fighting back.
Over this entire ordeal, we have received threatening phone calls from their finance managers. They have threatened multiple times to take the car from us.
The employees of Toyota of Dallas are liars, thieves, and bullies. I wouln't recommend their services to anyone. We were completely 100% honest with them throughout the whole deal and they tried to scam us. Unfortunately for them they got caught.

I was set on buying a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser from your dealer, but now that I've done some research on your company...I'll take my business elsewhere. From experiences I've had in the past, the bigger lot they have, the harder they'll try to screw you over.

I followed a link regarding "Spot Delivery" or "Yank" from another report and I am shocked that they did that to you!
One thing that I'm confused about - if the dealership believed that you provided them fraudulent information why would they have let you leave with the vehicle? Don't you have to provide proof of income to purchase a vehicle? If they had your tax forms from the beginning they should have known exactly what your income is. It would have been right there for them to see. After all, 75% is a HUGE discrepancy. Seems like they would have caught that when you submitted all of your paperwork the first time.
As far as the dealership changing information on the application, I believe it. A friend of mine had a car dealer forge their signature on a completely different contract with higher payments and interest. It was a very obvious forgery. They sued the dealership and won.
They shouldn't get away with things like this and blaming the customer is so slimy. Yes, the customer should be vigilant but the dealership should not be intentionally misleading the customer. I don't understand why the customer is always to blame. Isn't there some sort of responsibility on the shoulders of the dealer to conduct a sale in an honest and ethical manner?
I'm sorry that you had to deal with this. I'm glad you were able to purchase a car in the end. Kind of funny how another dealer had no problem getting you financed at a much lower rate. It really makes you wonder what the original dealer was trying to do. Thanks for getting your story out and letting people know what they should watch out for when buying a car.

#40 Consumer Suggestion
The acr dealer's Rip Off starts long before a buyer get to the car dealer's lot!

Dear Anonymous car dealers feel that they can do what ever they want because they know the media will never expose their long running scams and Rip Off's to the public.
I am a car buyers Consumer Advocate on this web site and I have seen Arizona car dealers do just about everything to increase their profit. Trust me most car dealers don't care as to how you feel about them just as long as they sell you a car.
Tell your Attorney he or she would be wise to see to it that a law suit be file and it be brought all they way to a jury. You can bet your bottom dollar that you can never trust "Arbitration" You will get bent over, trust me. A few local law firms here in phoenix have me come in and help them when it comes to RV and auto dealers.
The big problem is that banks receive fraudulent credit application everyday and they are too stupid to spot them or the profit off of a car loan is more important to them that they just use blind employees to process the paper work.
We must bash the media that will not bring car dealer scams to the public and we must bash the car dealers and EXPOSE THE RAT BASTARDS!
Did your loving car dealer's sales staff fill out your credit application or did they hand it to you to fill out?
From what you are saying it sounds like they let you take the car home with a copy of the contract. If this is so I am willing to bet that much of your documentation has been altered behind your back.
The other problem is that most Attorney Generals have no clue as to what to look for when it comes to car dealer Rip Offs.
Do you think that a Real Estate office would let a Mortgage Broker play Spot delivery games with home buyers.
You know let the home buyer move in and then call them after they have settled in and tell them to come back in so the broker and "yank" down their pants and grab a bigger chunk of profit? I don't think so.
The other problem Is CSI diversion. Yes, this also is something that most legal HOT DOGS have no clue about. I Pounded the pavement for many months a few years ago to try to find a TV station that had the balls to expose car dealer scams. But NO.
No TV station in this state has the balls to bend a few car dealers over and show consumers how dirty they can be. HUMMM Maybe it's because of all the big advertising $$$$$$ they all get from the car dealers that bend the consumers over.
After rooting on the net this morning I also think that I should post some more "INFORMATIVE READING for you. many of us know about the big GM Recall on many of their popular trucks and SUV's
Before or after a car buyer buys a car It would be nice if the media such as TV stations that have "On your Side programs" would do insider stories on the auto industry. They do stories on everything else like police, politics, crime, small restaurants, bad doctors and many other topics, why not new car dealers?
It seems that they, the media TV stations, Local Talk radio stations and newspapers do NOT want to let any of their reporters do any stories on new car dealers and the scams in the auto industry.
Let me tell you what I tried to get 3TV "The place with more stuff" in phoenix to air for AZ car buyers.
Before you start reading any more of this go get a nice warm cup of tea and think about what you are about to read.
At one time I sold cars for a living. I thought it might be a way to pay my bills. Went to a local Toyota dealer and drove them nuts until they hired me. Little by little they trained me the basics on selling cars. Much of the insider stuff the deceptive salesmen trained me what was going on to increase the bottom line.
Later I moved to a Nissan dealer and I thought selling Nissans would be much better. They played the same scams just with a different twist. After a few years I had to get out of the business because of what I seen the dealers were doing to car buyers.
During the last few months of selling cars I decided to EXPOSE what many dealers are doing to car buyers.
I went to 3TV and told them about a scam that car dealers were doing to car buyers. It is called CSI Diversion.
I went to MANY sales meetings and had to listen to the GM, GSM and their F&I people asking or requesting all info pertaining to what they called "HEAT DEALS"
In other words, they wanted to make sure that they had all info like customer's name, stock number of car they bought, VIN number, all of the UN HAPPY customer's contact info such as home, work and cell numbers.
They then would make sure that they placed FALSE phone numbers FALSE addresses on the RDR cards that went to the car maker. They did not want the car maker to be able to have any kind of contact with the you the UNHAPPY car buyers.
If a car dealer sees to it that the UNHAPPY car buyers never get any kind of CSI survey, they the car dealer will see their CSI scores will go up. Their main goal is to see to it that ONLY the HAPPY car buyers get CSI surveys in the mail. Many car dealers will also tell the car buyer this.
"Hey Mr and Mis car buyer if you can say you are happy on that CSI survey that you will soon be getting in the mail, we will give you a dinner at a local Steak house and a free tank of gas. Just bring the CSI survey to the dealership when you get it in the mail. We will be happy to help you with the paper work and fill it out for you."
One local Nissan car dealer's GM got a bright idea that would help their CSI scores in a big way. He seen to it that his sales staff were putting their own home numbers and addresses on the car Buyer's RDR cards. Then Nissan was unknowingly sending the CSI surveys to the car dealer's sales staff. I need not mention how the car dealer's sales staff filled out the surveys.
Now, I have a big problem with the above! Car maker has FALSE contact info like mailing address and all phone numbers. What if car maker wants to contact you, the car owner and say the following.
"Hey Mr. car owner we screwed up when we built your P.O.S. SUV and it has a DEFECTIVE ABS break unit on it. Your P.O.S. SUV also has a drivers side air bag that will pop in your face at anytime that may cause you to kill someone. We also found out that your seat belts aren't worth a s**t. We really want to have a chance to repair your P.O.S. SUV NOW!
If they can't send the real new car owner a CSI survey, how can they make sure the REAL CAR OWNER gets a safety recall notice?
I told a local Phoenix TV station 3TV all about this kind of deception and after they researched the hole story and had many on video that were willing to TELL ALL the TV station tossed the story in the trash.
I even have some recorded conversations with station 3TV about some local car dealers diverting their C.S.I. Rich Skidmore and I were going to release the story. He told me they wanted to "sand big" the story until the "sweeps" then it seems to me their advertising department got a hold of the story and got the station manager to KILL THE STORY.
The Editor here at Rip Off Report wants me to help him set it up so you readers out there can hear some of the recordings that I made of their reporter and I having about the story.
I asked Rich Skidmore to give me a copy of the video that he made when he was still working at 3TV and he would not do it.
Their motto is "The Place with more stuff" I say their motto should read
"The place that hides more stuff"
I wonder why they did not want to inform the local car owners that they might not get any SAFETY RECALLS!
Maybe big car dealer advertising money was at stake! I am thinking real hard about letting you all hear some of the recorded conversations that I secretly recorded about AZ CSI diversion. If I file a Rip Off Report and post all the info that I have, you car buyers will LOVE to listen to the tapes.
Here in AZ I think the car buyer has no clue as to how deceptive a car dealer can be. Can't get any local media to talk about car dealers and their scams that cost car buyers BIG BUCKS!
Contact your car maker if you bought a new car and ask for a copy of the RDR card that was sent to them after you bought your new car. Good way to find out what address your dealer sent to your car maker. Maybe your dealer thinks you are an UNHAPPY CAR BUYER!
If you want to find out what I am saying about the media is true or not try this test.
No matter what state you live in, email all of the people below and ask them why they are NOT WILLING talk live on the air about scams in the auto industry.
Ask them is the advertising money more important then protecting their listeners form the scams in the auto industry?
After they email you back, post their response on this Rip Off Report. I do NOT care what state you live in, Email the below people at a local "TALK RADIO" station and ask why they will NOT TALK about car dealer scams LIVE on the air.
It sure seems to me that protecting car buyers is NOT a concern of the main stream media. That being TALK RADIO, NEWSPAPERS and TV stations.
They are willing to chat the good and bad about the President of the United States, why not the good and bad of new car dealers?
Put the below people to the test, email them! Post their response on this Rip Off Report!

1. When can you remember the last time your local newspaper ever did a story on a new car dealership as to how they were scamming new car buyers?
2. When was the last time you ever heard a talk radio station let a caller talk LIVE on the air about how a car dealer ripped them off?

3. When was the last time you watched a TV station "On your side reporter" do an in-depth story on how finance people at NEW CAR dealers are scamming new car buyers?
Do you think your local TV station would ever do a story on the car buyer in this Rip Off Report below? Go look at the 3 pic's posted in this below Rip off Report. Read this car buyer's Report Real good.

4. When was the last time you got to read a "Letter to the editor" about how a car buyer got bent over in a new car dealer scam?
Would you like to put a newspaper to the test? If so go to the below URL and find a newspaper in your state and locate the "Letters to the Editor" section and email them. Post their reply on this Rip Off Report!
www.onlinenewspapers.com/usstate/usatable.htm
5. Do you think a newspaper, talk radio station or a local TV station would ever do a story on any of the below URL's?
I think NOT!
Does your state have a "a*s KICKING AG's Office like New York has? I bet NOT!
www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2001/dec/dec13b_01.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2001/may/may30b_01.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2002/apr/apr19b_02.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2002/jan/jan14b_02.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2000/oct/oct12a_00.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2001/aug/aug09a_01.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2003/mar/mar12b_03.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/1999/sep/sep30e_99.html www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2003/mar/mar18b_03.html
Put any of the above media to the test and find out if what I am saying to you is true! Then post their replies on this Rip Off Report!
I feel that newspapers, Talk radio and many TV stations have this unspoken rule to all reporters. "Do not even think of messing with our big money makers"
By the way "Anonymous" tell your Attorney to go read this Rip Off Report real good. Make sure he or she reads the park about kicking the Buyer's trade in the fourth contract eh dealer had the buyer sign. make sure he or she looks at all photos in this report.
Do you think this car buyer had to sit on a BIG ONE? I think so!
www.badbusinessbureau.com/reports/ripoff52158.htm
I also wonder why is it that banks are willing to do business with car dealers that are willing to submit fraudulent documents for loan approvals. Just think about this also. Most car dealers have a "documentation fee" They charge you a fee sometimes as much as $350 bucks to do all of the paper work. What kind of paper work have you paid for?
All of the "Media Mutts" on the morning shows that play with their papers and smile at each other make me sick! No "Media Mutt" that I know has a clue as to what's really going on. They are all just "Window Dressing" to keep you tuned in!
By the way you GM lovers. GM has a fat recall!

#38 Consumer Suggestion
The acr dealer's Rip Off starts long before a buyer get to the car dealer's lot!

SUBMITTED: Tuesday, April 26, 2005

Look Deeper. If you're curious as to who actually owns many of the mega-dealers, do a web search on "ward's dealer 500" and see if you can find your favorite dealer.

In my short duration with TOD as an employee, I recognized many things occuring in the absence of ethics. It's quite uncomfortable, having come from traditions of honesty and integrity, to be surrounded by those who throw those values away at the sight of money. Such was the case there during my employment, and still is the case at many dealers. You'll find this is especially the case at dealerships that are either corporate owned, or have a joint-venture between a corporation and a private investor.
If you're curious as to who actually owns many of the mega-dealers, do a web search on "ward's dealer 500" and see if you can find your favorite dealer. You may be surprised to see that quite a few are partially owned by the same folks. In essence, the reputation of the auto sales and service industry is being forged from the top, by fewer people than you think. And of course, it makes perfect sense that they would bring to the ranks those who support their idealism of profits. Think about it.
I've heard that there's been recent major changes at TOD. Perhaps sites like this (which Bill has obviously seen) are drawing attention to some of the problems that had damaged TOD's reputation. I saw the decline of CSI. I wasn't sure when it'd pull up. However Bill, I think Tom had the best of intentions, he just lacked the right team. A Tom/Dan combo would have really made things great.

Since September, my wife and I have purchased not one, but two Toyota Matrixes from TOD. We have been thrilled not only with the vehicles, but with the service we received from all aspects of the operation.
My suggestion to anyone who is going to purchase a vehicle from any dealer: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. We did our research before we went in and knew exactly what the MSRP of the vehicle should be, what our credit scores were, what our limits on financing were, and how the whole financing process worked. We also knew EXACTLY what our needs were and what vehicles would work and would not allow them to sell us something else. We also said up front that if the terms weren't to our liking, we would go to Toyota of Richardson where my wife has a very good relationship with the staff.
The result was that we had a very LONG negotiation for the first Matrix, but instead of high pressure, they actually further educated us further on how vehicle financing works with regards to trade-ins, etc. and treated us VERY respectfully. They also told us exactly what we'd need to do to purchase the second Matrix within the parameters we set. We left the dealership with a very good deal, and assured them we would be back.
60 days later, we went in for the second Matrix (just 3 days ago). Based on the needs we had expressed to them previously and the timeline we had in place for purchasing, they shipped in the car we wanted without a transfer fee and called us the day they ordered it. Furthermore, because of our previous homework, they did not haggle with us, giving us their best price. We left the dealership with another GREAT deal on a second vehicle and the peace of getting rid of a vehicle that I had purchased from a dealership that has numerous Rip-Off reports.
Some tips I can give future buyers are:
Never tell the sales people what your desired MONTHLY payment is. They can make that happen and still make a lot of money. Tell them the maximum amount you are willing to finance. This gives you more leverage.
If you are trading in a vehicle that still not paid for in totality, have at least $2000 saved up to compensate for the payoff vs. trade-in value. It will have a very positive influence on your overall amount financed.
Know what the MSRP is on the vehicle before going in. Internet research is a big help. Knowing what the cost of certain packages / options are along with the actual MSRP of the vehicle AND the resale value helps a lot in negotiation.
Doing your homework beforehand and having a game plan firmly in mind before going into the dealership can make your experience positive. They respect people who know how to negotiate and will be more likely to work with you.
I'm sorry that some of you had bad experiences with TOD, but my wife and I have no complaints whatsoever.

Sales Manager... Customer Satisfaction is #1

Our #1 priority is to make the customer happy by having no defects, by caring, and also respecting their time and getting everything finished in a timely manner. I have been with Toyota of Dallas for 2 years and have enjoyed being apart of an organization that strives not to sell the most cars in the city, but have the happiest customers in the city.
Toyota of Dallas has been in business for many years for the simple fact that they take care of their guests from when they walk into the sales side, to the service dept., and also in the certified body shop. TOD is also the recipient of a prestigous award which is called the "Presidents Award" which was only one of the few dealers in North Texas to receive this award. This awards dealers for their excellence in sales, service, and collison center.
In reference to the car deal that went bad..
I have seen Mr. Adkins get some really tough deals approved, but it is really hard for him to go to bat for you when he is batting with false information. Its kinda like 20 yrs. ago when George Brett hit that big homerun, then the umpire found that he had illegal things in his bat when he hit that homerun. The homerun was waived off and George Brett was thrown from the game. So please any future car buyers....Please provide the correct info. on the application.
Thanks,

TOD is still up to the same games. Several years ago (1987) they tried to deliver a different car than we purchased. We pointed out the differences but they insisted that it was our car. After much discussion, we finally asked for and received our cash payment ($14,317.75) back.
I too, will never pass through the doors of TOD again.

Honesty from TMC, TMSUSA, or their Affiliates?
AUTHOR: Charlene - (U.S.A.)

I am afraid that you might be disappointed if you hope for any degree of HONESTY from TMC, TMSUSA, or their affiliates! Case in point is the dishonesty currently going on in the case of Toyota Engine Oil Sludge.
The public spokespersons at Toyota, including Mr. Mike Michels, John Hanson, and Bob Daly, all say that they are "unaware of a single case of engine oil sludge in a properly-maintained Toyota." This is a LIE. They know it and the Toyota owners know it. Therefore, if the public spokespersons are allowed to perpetuate a LIE.....no go out of their way to include this LIE in articles that are published about Toyota engine oil sludge.....then, how can the buying public trust ANYTHING that Toyota affiliates say?
For FAR TOO LONG, Toyota has blamed the Toyota owners for problems inherent in the vehicles they drive and made the OWNERS financially responsible! I am not surprised in the least that this dealership you describe is considered among the best by TMC! It would seem that the more a dealership can SCAM a would-be purchaser or a current Toyota owner, the BETTER its overall rating by TMC! Why, there must be points accrued for pulling the wool over the most Toyota owners eyes!!
Toyota has long bragged that it doesn't have many RECALLS. GEE.....why do ya think? Let's see....based on the Toyota engine oil sludge problem, the head gasket failures, the transmission failures, and the brake failures, I'd say that IF you do NOT ackowledge the problems, you don't have to recall the vehicles! A no brainer! The safest thing for TMC to do is to sit back and DENY, DENY, DENY, and then to BLAME THE OWNER, BLAME THE OWNER, BLAME THE OWNER.......well, you get the idea!
With all this contract and financing scam, I supposed the same could be said. When you are called to task, simply claim that it is the STUPID WOULD-BE TOYOTA OWNER'S FAULT!! Toyota is quite good at belittling its current owners......I am sure that the would-be owners are fair game, too!! Everyone surely knows that Toyota thinks its current owners are NEGLECTFUL vehicle owners who do not maintain their vehicles.......who just want a FREE RIDE from Toyota when troubles start!! Perhaps the would-be owners might like a heads-up on this fact!!
If you have sticking sliding doors, you are guiltly of spilling sticky drinks in the door tracks!! If you have bad brakes, you are using your brakes too much or slamming on them when you shouldn't!! If you have a failed transmission, you didn't changed the transmission fluid or you abused your vehicle in some other way!! Just don't expect to go into a Toyota dealership and get service under warranty because YOU DID IT no matter whatt the problem is!! This is what Toyota owners have been hearing time and time again!! OH...WHAT A FEELING...of disgust!! Customer service....NOT!!
You need more proof of a STONEWALLING automaker? Do a google.com search under "Toyota Engine Sludge" or "Toyota Engine Failure." You will get a crash course in HIDDEN DEFECTS 101!!
That response by William from Toyota of Dallas sounds so typical......when you can, BLAME THE OWNER......and keep doing it so that you sound like the good guy....the generous one who is going to be there for the customer after the sale!! DREAM ON, William.......I think we have your number now!! I can just imagine what would happen down the road when this would-be owner came in with engine problems.....YES, the MATRIX is showing the engine oil sludge problem, too. I'm sure that William would say, "No problem, sir, we'll get that engine replaced for you and give you loaner car, too!" Sure......

Hey Mark Mr F&I Guy, you like what I post, you like my work. What's Ya thinking Mark?
AUTHOR: Stick - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, June 03, 2004
Now it is my turn to respond!
Mark you say you do secondary paper. Come on and tell the truth. You and I both know that you put some people in "Spots" or "Yanks" because you F&I people don't want your UP's to slide down to the next "Sled show" and buy your competition.
You guys just want to hold on to your Up until you have run them through every last lender you can get your fingers on.
Tell the truth about "Spots" and "Yanks". Its a game that is used in the auto industry to keep the buyer from buying some where else and you know it. Ever see a mortgage company dump a home buyer in a "Spot" or "Yank"? Can you say NO mark ?
No because the home buyers would be pissed in a big way if they take days off from work to move in a nice home and then were told to pack their s**t after a few weeks and move out.
Car dealers can do this crap because they have a big long list of well paid lobbyist that keep laws from being passed to stop this kind of s**t. Don't try to BS me!
Hey Mark why not tell the buyer to go home and have a nice night on the town and we "WILL CALL YOU AFTER WE GET YOU APPROVED" and for the buyer to come back and take delivery of the new or USED SLED!
You can't do that, you are afraid that they will jet down to the next "SLED SHOW" and get hammered in to some other dealer's Spot or Yank.
We can't have a dealer down the road get a good hold of our UP's
You said and I quote
"contract is clear, you must return the vehicle and everyone is return to there original positions."
Take some time and read the Rip Off Reports on what BS the car buyer has to deal with to get their trade in back or how much BS they have to deal with to get their down payment money back. Again don't try to BS me!
By the way do you ever show the buyer the "Gross Sheet" after you get the paper hung? Ever show the buyer the "Backend Poundage?
We all know "Backend Poundage" is Top Seceret because many car dealers like to Float the frontend poundage to the back. This way a car dealer can pass out smaller pay vouchers to their sales staff! Am I right Mark?
Ever show the buyer your true mark up on all of your extras some F&I people try to slip in a contract?
No car dealer lets "Green Peas" set in a F&I chair and you know it. Car dealers do NOT let passive people set in a F&I chair.
They seek aggressive people that have the ability to SQUEEZE people hard for extra MONEY or what some call POUNDAGE!

Change parts in cars with warranty to chage to manufacturing
AUTHOR: Carlos - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, June 02, 2004
I took my Toyota Sienna to Toyota of Dallas to replace the seat belt (pasanger side) since it was not working right and the car still has warranty. Beside I want to replace the time belt, of cource I knew that that is my responsability to pay for.
When I arrive the service person noticed that the warranty of my car was almost over. (59,000miles). He said that there are some seal behind the timing belt that may be bad, if that is the case, it will be cover by the warranty.
My double surprices when I went to picked up my car!!!!
Toyota of Dallas not only replaced the panseger seat belt, they also replaced the driver side without my ahutorization. All kind of excuses, First they said that I do have to worry since Toyota corporation cover the cost under the warranty. Then they said seat belt parts came in pair. False. I checked paper work and they ordered to 2 parts. Then they said that is the police of the company to replace both at the same time, then I asked, why you do not change all the seat belts in the car if that is your police, then second, why you charge Toyota corporation if that is toyota of Dallas police. I asked, there is a recall of seat belt from toyota corporation? Asnwer is not.
Second suprise: They said that the seal behind timing belt were bad and they were covered by the warranty, then I toll then that if that is the case, I will not paid for the labor of replacing the timing belt. (just the part) They wanted to change my 6 hours of labor for replacing the timing belt and another 6 hours to Toyota corporation for the seals. When It is the same job!!! To replace these seals you need to remove the timing belt.
They said several time that Toyota corporation will paid the extra charges (seat belt and seal in behind timing belt)
We ask a costumer need to undertand that when they over charge manufacturing company (under warranty period) We as a costumer will pay it later when you by a new car.
I will not go back to Toyota of Dallas for any thing (serice, or to buy a new car).

Don't matter what was said. What in the contract matters.
AUTHOR: MARK - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, February 19, 2004
I am a finance manager who specializes in sub prime lending and all contract are contingent on the bank funding the loan.
A spot delivery is not a "scam" its a way for people to take a car home and not have to wait for the bank to pay the dealer, and if the bank won't, for whatever reason, the contract is void. It sounds like you should have brought the car back right away, you never owned it, and it would have saved you the headach, if they offered you new terms, walk. I have, unfortuantly, had to get vehicles back because the bank would't buy the contract, for whatever reasons, and some people get real pissed, but bottom line is they, like you have not a foot to stand on. The contract is clear, you must return the vehicle and everone is return to there original positions. No harm no foul! So quit your bitchn'.

If you have had the pleasure of following the Great Thorns rebuttals on this forum, you will know how these scamming Car Dealers advertise to drum in the unuspecting public.
Well, turns out that this Car Dealer is using the EXACT SAME TACTICS OF ADVERTISING!
I heard it myself on the radio, just the other day.
Guess they need more unsuspecting folks to bend over? Must be a big boat payment coming up?
On the other hand,
I have a friend, who told me about really great car dealer. My friend was in wreck that was clearly not his fault, but the car insurance cos is ascribing some percentage as his fault. Anyway, he had bought the car that was wrecked from this car dealer, and when he told him what had happened, the dealer made him a really great offer.
I have never hear any ads from that dealership at all. Could it be word of mouth advertising for him?
It's a Chrysler Dealer in Bonham TX. Might check him out.

You know you were wrong and you know that you are not telling the whole story. We never lied and you had every single document to prove it. There was never any doubt about our income. So stop with all of the libelous comments. The deal had already been signed and YOU rescinded after we wouldn't agree to renegotiate.
It's not like your dealership has never done this to people before. Trust me, after talking to a friend who used to work under you at Trophy and then later as a shark-in-the-box with TOD, this whole thing is pretty common with you folks. You just got called on it this time. That doesn't happen very often, does it?
We didn't have any trouble at all getting another dealership to work with us. We were even able to get a 4% interest rate as opposed to the 16% you were offering. They didn't set out to screw us from the beginning.
You could learn a lot from them. It's a much better way to do business. I can give you the number of their GM if you'd like. I'm sure he'd be happy to offer you some customer service tips.
Oh, and please indulge me. Our salesperson, Zack, was the top salesperson at the dealership at the time that we bought the car. He was making you a lot of money. Why was he fired while all of this was going on? It just seems odd that one of your top employees would have lost his job over this, especially since you consider us to be the dishonest party here. Very odd indeed.

THere are two other RipOffReports against your dealership. Quit hiding behind your personal laurels, admit that you and your dealership have behaved badly, apologize and go on. As a United States Military Veteran I do not appreciate being referred to as Pinko. Question, "How much time did you spend in Armed Forces", I bet I know the answer, NONE.
Displayed at our dealership in plane sight for everyone to see are our most current Customer Satisfaction Ratings. We would be glad to send you the most recent scores. Toyota Motor Sales considers our ranking perfect in each of the ten categories.
All the comments stem from one unsatisfied customer who misstated their income. We did drop the ball on a couple of items, however if the customer would have been honest in the first place none of it would have happened.
If you are going to comment on something in the future that you know nothing about I suggest you do some research first. Jumping to conclusion with out due diligence, is in fact being PINKO.

It is the practices and dealings of dealerships like Toyota of Dallas (TOD) that steer me away from buying Toyota products. A car purchase is a MAJOR decision yet these people are treated like MINOR citizens. The last straw was the stereo swap out. I would suggest that the RipOff Report filer also contact Toyota Corporate of North America, and inform them of the evil and malicious practices of TOD. Perhaps that will put a dent into their customer service rating. I am truly sorry for all of your hassle.
TOD seems like a bunch of Communist pinkos!

However I realize dealerships only care making tons of money by financially raping people that walk on their lot. Consumers would be wise to AVOID financing at dealerships since they are infested with fraudelant employees. NEVER walk into a finance office, thats where they show their true colors. Car dealers are like drug dealers because the blame their victim for the incident they caused. Also the BBB is of no use. It means nothing that a business is a member of the BBB. The BBB never reveals complaints about their members.

the dealership has more money to pay their attorneys to do their dirty work
AUTHOR: E - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, June 17, 2003
After speaking to our attorney on May 19, we decided that the best course of action would be to return the vehicle to Toyota of Dallas and get our down payment and our trade-in back from them. Basically, the dealership has more money to pay their attorneys to do their dirty work for them than we have to fight them. They have the most cash so right or wrong, they win.
There was extensive hail damage to our trade-in vehicle due to a storm back on April 5. The dealership agreed to repair the damage before returning the vehicle to us.
We heard back from the dealership on June 13 that our trade-in had finally been repaired. On June 14, we returned the Matrix to Toyota of Dallas and recieved our vehicle and a check for the amount of our down payment. The vehicle was repaired, although somewhat half-assed.
There were still a few dents on the vehicle that they missed. Also, during the time that they were in posession of our trade-in, someone decided to remove our Nakamichi stero/CD player and replace it with an off-brand cassette deck. Thanks a lot. We just took our vehicle as it was and left. We wanted to get the situation with Toyota of Dallas behind us.
After leaving Toyota of Dallas, we immediately took our trade-in over to the wonderful (and honest!) folks at Freeman Toyota in Hurst. We have been working with them for the last month. We gave them the exact same credit information that we gave Toyota of Dallas and they were able to secure financing for a new vehicle with no problem. They recieved the same tax forms and income information as Toyota of Dallas. They could clearly see that there was no discrepancy with our income.
We will be returning to Freeman Toyota this afternoon to pick up our new vehicle that they ordered for us. They have been a pleasure to work with. Apparently, they get a good deal of business from customers who have been wronged by the Texas Toyota dealerships.
If Toyota of Dallas didn't believe that there was any way for us to be financed, they would have never let us drive off the lot with their vehicle without a BVA. They had plenty of chances to review our tax and income information. If there was truly a problem, it would have been mentioned before. Once again, they tried to scam us and they got caught. It's pretty common for car dealerships in situations like this to accuse the consumer of lying.
I wonder if Toyota of Dallas realizes that it is a federal crime to put fraudulent information on a credit application? Their employee didn't seem to think twice about it before changing information on our co-signer's application.
Now that all of this is behind us, I am actually relieved that our deal did not go through with TOD. They do not deserve our business or anyone else's. I am very glad that our money went to a dealership that is more deserving and more committed to customer satisfaction. TOD may have their mission statement all over their building, but it doesn't mean anything. They set out to scam the customers from the very beginning. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to do business with these guys - mostly because they don't deserve the sale.
Not all car dealerships have ripoff reports published about them. Toyota of Dallas has three. That definitely says something about them. I wonder how many more ripoff reports they would have if more of their customers knew about this site?

TOD does have it's mission statement all over the building but it also has its code phrases such as "raping the customer". We never misrepresented anything. Actually, our tax forms reflected exactly what we had told you. They were presented by us the first, second, and third times we visited your dealership. They were also submitted by our attorney, as you know.
If there was any actual discrepancy with our income, it might be on the credit application filled out by your employee. Shouldn't the discrepency have been mentioned before your threats were made? Nothing was mentioned about that until we said it looked like you were trying to scam us. We were completely open and honest about everything from day one, and you know that, Bill.
Apparently business ethics and customer satisfaction don't really matter when you have deep pockets and attorneys to hide behind. Keep on scamming people, Mr. Adkins. I'm sure that helped get you where you are today.

The dealership cashed our down payment check on the advice of their attorneys, in the hopes that it would bounce. It didn't.
Our attorney has attempted to contact their attorenys numerous times to discuss the fraudulent credit applications submitted by the dealership. We were supposed to have a conference call two weeks ago between us, the dealership, and our attorneys. Both the dealer and their attorneys are still avoiding our attorneys phone calls. The dealership now knows that we have caught them commiting fraud.
We also found out that during a recent storm, the dealership was hit with 3" hail. Our trade-in was still on their lot when the storm hit. We are not completely sure about the condition of our vehicle, but since it was a convertible, it was probably totalled. We are waiting to see if the dealership also committed insurance fraud by claiming our vehicle's damages on their policy.
Our temporary dealer plates expired on April 19. The dealership has not given us our license plates, nor have they titled the car. The car is not yet titled in anyone's name - not even Toyota of Dallas.
While we don't have the copies of the retail sales agreement, we do have a copy of the Odometer Disclosure Statement and also the Agreement to Purchase Insurance on the new vehicle.
The dealership still has not paid off our trade-in as they agreed to, so we are having to pay the payments on the old car as well.
Our first payment on the new vehicle would have been due May 6. On the advice of our attorney, we took the dealership a check for the first payment. We're waiting to see if they deposit the check. If they do, they are just digging themselves a deeper hole.
I just can't believe the lengths these guys will go to try and pull off a scam. It would have been so much easier for them to just correct their (intentional) mistakes and honor the deal as we originally agreed. Don't ever, EVER purchase anything from these idiots.
If this goes on much longer, we will be contacting the district attorney. They should give up now before it gets REALLY nasty.

We're still waiting for the dealership's next move.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Park the car where they can't find or take it!

It may be illegal for them to take it, but they don't have many reservations about breaking the law. Posession is 9/10 of the law. Then if you get a call asking "Where the !@## is 'my' car!" you know they were serious about taking it and went out looking for it.
Get an opinion from your lawyer of course, but who is listed as co-signer and who is primary buyer might be of little practical importance. After all the payments are made, whoever is named on the title will own the car. If payments are missed, they will primarily go after the signer with better credit since that person (by definition) is more likely to pay. Any trouble will reflect equally badly on everyone's credit reports.
