In May 2008 I conducted an online search for refurbished transmissions and was subsequently contacted by a Representative for Transmission Citi. I explained that I needed an operable transmission preferably refurbished to reduce expense. I informed Larry, the representative that I had already received an estimate of $1400-1600 for a new transmission. HE assured me that he could offer me a rebuilt transmission for the price of about $950.00+ in addition to the cost of hard parts. I attempted to clarify that my main concern was that the transmission worked properly and that the price was less or equal to what my local shop had quoted me for which I had already paid and RDI fee of $300.00.
My vehicle was then towed from Killeen, TX to the repair shop in Denton, TX nearly four hours away. A few days later after no further updates I contacted Larry who told me the entire cost would total up to be approximately $3200.00. I immediately asked that my vehicle be towed back to Killeen, TX fully understanding that I would be responsible for all towing fees. He then attempted to include a dismantle fee although I had told him exactly what I needed and didn't agree to another RDI fee. During the period of time following that conversation I did pursue legal advice and subsequently representation.
Initially I was given an estimate of $670.00-680.00 for round trip tow fees. After calculating the total cost of having my vehicle towed back to Killeen, TX and repaired I was reached a figure of $2300.00 which is not significantly less than the grand total of my vehicle being repaired at the shop in Denton where it already sat. Being that time was a factor in my next decision I opted to accept the ludicrous price I was offered only to find that when I contacted Larry, the terms had changed. As I had not signed any paperwork during out entire correspondence I wanted to retain what I'd thought to be our previous terms of agreement on file.
When I received the paperwork via e-mail I saw that the price had risen to a little less than $5000.00. Once again I contacted the representative by phone and explained what I noticed to be different in this contract vs. the previous terms and that I would not be accepting his offer. He then added storage fees for the duration of the time that my vehicle was at the shop although I had requested the return of my truck a few weeks before. The price he then gave me which did not include an RDI fee was $921.73 a $300.00 difference from what he quoted me when I had initially requested to have my vehicle returned.
I ened up paying $850.00 for just to have my vehicle released.

My son also called Larry Duncan about transmission repair and was quoted repairs would be around $600.00. After having car picked up and taken to the shop for a diagnosis he was to call him back with a total for repairs. My son called him and he told him that repairs would be $997.00 + hard parts, but needed a deposit of $897.00 cash deposited into his personal bank account. I spoke with Larry and asked him how much was the towing and diagnostic test, he stated that it would be $897.00. Told him if he had done the test what was wrong with it. He stated that the shop had results. Told him we did not want him to do the repairs and that I would pay him for towing and testing and asked him how was that, he stated $897.00 cash. Told him I did not operate by cash, and I was not going to deposit cash into his checking account. He stated to me he did not take credit cards, checks or cashier checks, and I was not going to be an exception to his rule. He also stated people think that they are slick with credit cards, and checks they stop payment on them. I told him no, you think that you are slick by wanting cash deposited in your account. Asked him to give me the location where my auto was located after he had insulted my intelligence several times, and I told him I did not appreciate it and hung up. The location where our auto was located is 1805 S.Great Southwest Pkwy,Grand Prairie, Texas, suppose to be Einstein Transmission Repair. This company does not even exist. After several days going to the place trying to talk with the people at the shop and they pretending not to know anything about what was going on. We took the police no results. After no results with that we went to the Grand Prairie court house to file a civil law suit, but after their help we found out that this company did not exist and they are suppose to be operating as Einstein Auto, only storing auto parts not repairing autos. We went to the Code Enforcement Office, they informed Larry Duncan that they were operating illegally. We were there the day they closed the warehouse down and got our car back without paying them a dime, but they did tear our transmission completely apart. If anyone is in the Dallas/Forth Worth area and you think your auto is in this shop you need to try and get your auto out of this warehouse. We thankfully did not get scammed, but he tried to. If you would like to contact us call 469-671-6886 or email at jshi600@yahoo.com, because we are trying to help other people get their autos back and close this company down for good.
