Travelers Advantage unauthorized charges to my account and my last name didnt even match up. Norwalk Conneticut

I found charges in my bank account that I never made. When I called the company to find out what the charges were for they asked me for my name and address. They told me that they did not have my name in the system but when I gave them the address they realized that the name on the account was different than my name the first names matched but not the last names. I then was told that I have been a member for quite some time and that I should consider keeping the membership.

I had to explain to the man that I spoke with that I have never herd of the company, received a bill or any other form of information regarding this company and that I had no desire to do business with them. I asked them about getting a refund and they told me all I could do was file for a refund. I dont understand how a company that I have never herd of can charge my account, use the wrong last name and the bank or the company wont do anything about it.
