Purchased a $100.00 gift card for my son who is away at college. Made several attempts over the last year to use this card but each attempt resulted in failure with the website or no response from their customer service. My third attempt started on 9/2 and painstakenly on 9/6/2016 to book a hotel for my son in Canada has resulted in nothing but frustration. I've been bounced around like a ping pong ball whereby I called travelocity and transferred to EXPEDIA (yes, Expedia!) - apparement they merged - this is too bad, as I have never experienced a problem with them but the mere idea of them being associated with Travelocity they will never see another dime from me! First card ID # was issued prior to pin numbers (of course my son was a freshman in college), he's now graduated! On Friday 9/2 tried to use card and asked for pin # "if applicable". It wasn't in my case. Though there website stated, PIN # REQUIRED! Called their help line on the gift card and receive auto response to email them. I received an email on Monday 9/5. For the last two days have not been able to log on. I've told them I've tried several computers, servers and browers (three different ones, I.E. CHROME, FIRE FOX) all with the same issue. They recognized issue on Tuesday 9/6 stating they fixed there server and to reboot system. I did but to no avail. I've spoke to dozen of people today and in total placed on hold for no less then 3 hours. I've wasted days on this and to no avail. I called travelocity rep and they said they could take care of it due to their server issue but promptly hung up on me after being placed on hold for over 30 minutes after I rebuted their $252 hotel cost which was listed on their site for $208. When I started this process the cost was $139 a night. Saturday $159, Sunday $173 and today I booked one night stay for $176.00 thru another company. Although they took my number, they didn't call back. I started the process all over yet again, placed on hold for 1 hour only told sorry we don't accept the cards, not sure why the other rep stated that. All I hear was the representaives who are clearly working in a sweatshop setting who can barely speak english repeat what I said and continue to say "well I'm sorry" let me check with my supervisor and left on hold for endless hours.
I tried to request a refund over the phone (was rejected) as this "travelocity" only handles promotions and credit cards, not gift cards. I sent several other responses to the travelocity incentives help desk requesting refund or assistance but to no avail.
Everything I can see this is a fraudelent company. I realize it's only $100 but it's the principle and has become personal. My times is worth money, my gift card is worth money. I want to be reimburse for the card and my time. Please advise if there is a class action suit or other means in which I can get a refund and other compensation. This company needs to be stopped and the only way I can see this being done if they are shut down or hit where it hurts their pocket book.
