Save yourself $18 and do not waste it on Truthfinder.com. Many of their links are broken disallowing you to cancel your subscription. In my case, after entering payment info, the link broke and did not bring me to the next step of creating an account. But they sure did bill my credit card right away!

I called the 800# and was told how to reset a password. That link was broken also and I was unable to submit a password.

Today I spoke with Sofia at Truthfinder.com. She gave me a temporary password so I could actually use the account.

Incredibly disappointing. information provided is very basic, if at all, and can easily be obtained for free on the web.

They post a box to the right of your search report which states:  PREMIUM REPORT and in-depth report on XXXXX(your search subject) is available and may contain the following Arrest Records, Sexual Offenses, Weapons Permits, Accidents, Foreclosures, Judgement & Liens, Bankruptcies, ...... COMING SOON"

So all the information you are seeking does not show up in the report. Of course the Coming Soon and Premium Buttons don't link to anything. This is a total rip off. Try cancelling your account. That link is broken too.

Scam company sells your private information

AUTHOR: MKW - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 20, 2017

TruthFinder is a scam company pretending to sell background checks when they are actually stealing and selling YOUR information! I signed up for a background report on somebody. Before I even paid for the report, I started receiving hundreds of spam and scam emails every day about porn, foreign brides, drugs, bitcoins, and worse.

When I contacted TruthFinder, they informed me that the privacy policy on their website states basically states that they may give away my personal and private information to whomever they choose. They said I could "unsubscribe," but this is not the case. The damage is done, my private email address is now in the hands of spammers and scammers all over the world. There is no unsubscribing, that ship has sailed.

The one other time this nightmare happened to me it took around 40 hours to change my email address in the hundreds of places it's used. I bill $125 an hour for my time, so I make it around $6000 that I'm out of pocket thanks to TruthFinder.

After some background research, I believe they are running a scam. On their BBB page, the CEO listed is also the CEO of a nearby company named "The Control Group" which specializes in email marketing. Therefore I'm making the assumption that TruthFinder is not selling background checks at all, it's a front for stealing and selling email addresses and private information. They also own numerous other domains such as top4backgroundchecks . com/ and bakgroundchecks . org where they pretend to be a different company giving themselves good reviews. It’s pretty obvious because when you go to the privacy policy pages of these websites, they are all in San Diego, and all use the same language. VERY SHADY!!

What TruthFinder does not seem to have grasped, is just because you give yourself permission in a website policy to do something, does not make it legal. The FTC and BBB have been interested to hear about what they are up to.

Bottom line, do NOT trust this company.

Same problem

AUTHOR: Anthony - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 07, 2016

I agree with above consumer. The trial report was ridiculously basic and a waste of time to wait for. They constantly try to lure you with a PREMIUM report that has the info you need which should have already been included in the trial report.

I cannot remember if I called in or tried to do the cancellation online, as I didn't write down a cancellation number (my fault, didn't think it would be such a hassle). 3 weeks later noticed the charge for $29.89 on my VISA. No email cancellation found in any spam mailboxes, or the server side of my emails.

Called in again and spoke with a male rep. He checked and said no record of my previous cancellation. To his credit, he was very nice. I cancelled again anyway. Still waiting after a few hours for my cancellation email. I know this isn't long to wait for a confirmation, but wanted to file this warning to others.

This may or may not be a reputable company, as I can't say that they did anything on purpose. But a free trial with  a VERY basic report that gave me little to nothing I could use, with constant lures to upgrade, was annoying and suspicious. Proceed with caution and write down dates and names of anyone you talk to.
