Union 76 Gas Station Getting charged credit card prices when using ATM/DEBIT card Beaumont California

OK here's the deal, this is not a huge ripoff but I still consider it a ripoff. The gas station has two different prices for gas one for cash purchases and another for credit. On this particular day the price for cash was 1.73 per gallon and 1.82 for credit purchases. I ended up using my debit card to pay for the gas which is not a credit card so i figured that i was getting the cash price, so as the gas is pumping I look and I'm being charged 1.82 per gallon the credit card price. I went inside the store and asked the clerk why am I being charged the credit card price even though i was using a debit card to pay for the gas. I was told that I was being charged the credit price because i didn't select the button marked ATM/DEBIT before i even put my card into the machine. There aren't any signs on the pump telling you that if you don't select the ATM/debit button before you put your card into the machine, that you will be charged the credit card price . So if you don't know before hand to select the ATM/debit button your automatically going to be charged the credit card price. Like I stated earlier its not a huge ripoff, it only cost me a dollar more than i would have paid if i had got the cash price. I just think its wrong that there aren't any signs to let you know to select the ATM/debit button before you even put your card into the machine.

I'm just fed up with all the hidden fees and charges that places like this Union 76 station in Beaumont CA are charging. I'm sure that these hidden charges add up to 2 or 3 hundred dollars a year.
