I came to work for United American in August 2007. I trained for a couple weeks and then went out into the field with my Unit Manager. She was a very good trainer and then had to leave because her husband had surgery and she took time off to be with him. At that time our Branch Manager offered to put me with another Unit Manager just for help and would help me himself until I was comfortable by myself. At this time, they would go out by themselves and write business, but would offer to put it in my name and give me the renewals to "build my book of business". I would give them all of the money.
I honestly believed that they were doing me a huge favor. They seemed so sincere, like they really wanted to help build my renewals. I was never told how to sign on and get my statements each month. When I asked about my renewal checks, I was told that it took a while to build them up. I spoke with my former Unit Manager and she seemed concerned and told me how to check out my monthly's. When I saw it I couldnt believe it! I had over $5,000 in chargebacks for policies that I DID NOT write. I was trapped, since this would be on Vector if I left the company.
I am frustrated and shocked at the ethics of these people. When I confronted the Branch Manager and the Unit manager I was assured that I would be reimbursed and here it is March 08 and no reimbursement yet! I still have appt with this company because I am concerned about Vector! I am in disbelief and have no idea what to do. Why should I have to pay back a debt that I did not create!!

What they have done is illegal. You can try to contact John Gore but you'll spend a ton of time getting nowhere. Believe me, the AG's office gets attention and gets it now!

Go above their head!

This is now against the company rules - I worked for UA for 1 year and I left because of personal issues. However I was a UM for some time when I wrote business in another agents name they recieved ALL of the commission. You need to contact the home office about their unethical practices. You can contact John Gore in McKenny TX If you are persistant enough you will get through! They had to write the check in your name - which means that you had to cash it and give it to them.
Good luck

I never received any money, I was told to cash the checks and give them the money, but would get the renewals. Come to find out these were all friends of the manager(s) and they never had any intention of being a policy in force!

Did you receive any money?

Alot of times Managers are remisss in explaining how the commission system works.
The reason I'm asking whether you received any money is the checks you received were advances, not pay. It was basically a loan against future earnings.
In order for you to have a $5,000 balance owed you would have had to receive at least $5,000 in advances. Did you? If you didn't someone stole your advances. You need to contact the attorney general.
