I should have seen this one coming! A Unit Manager with the company told me that the policy I was purchasing would be an 80%-20% coverage. Then, if I purchased the supplementary policy, I would only end up paying around 12% after the $500.00 deductible. Well, to date, my surgical and hospital charges have exceeded $15,000 and United has paid around $2,000. I guess I should have asked if I would be responsible for 80% since they are only paying 20%!! The Neurosurgen's office visits were between $100 - $235, United paid $50. MRI charges were $1706., U/A paid $460. I have been in contact with this Unit Mgr. many times to be told that he was working on it. I am ashamed to realize that I was offered the moon only to recieve a pebble of dirt!

to getitreal. need to ask yourself what if you get cancer with this insurance? or need a million dollar bone marrow transplant? can you save for that? the 300.00 outpatient service you talked about for ER, MRI's,,,, yes that also means CHEMO TREATMENTS!!!. chemo is done on an outpatient service basis. 300.00 outpatient service means just that, anything that is done outpatient is outpatient service. call your branch office, talk to the agent, branch manager, ask them how it will pay chemo on a outpatient basis. you probably wont get an answer. imagine that

You can get alot more work done at the hospital in a 3 day visit. Yes it pays 80% up to $50,000 but at 2K per day you'd be in there a long time.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Read Your Policy

AUTHOR: Keepitreal - (U.S.A.)

As a United American policyholder, I'm embarrassed for you.

Why are you giving money to a someone when you don't understand what it is that you're buying?

My policy clearly states what it does. It pays $50 per doctor visit. It pays $300 for out paitient procedures such as an MRI. It pays 80% of my daily hospital charges up to $2000 per day. How much more clear can it get? I know that I may have to pay out of pocket for medical expenses some day, so I do what I can to save if that ever happens.

My suggestion is that if you qualify for a more comprehensive policy and can afford to make the monthy premium payments then you should buy it.

I think of it like buying a car that I can afford. If I could afford to make payments on a car that was loaded with options, I would do it. But I can't. So I buy one that will get me from one place to another.
