United Express This company ships freight worldwide. I was receiving a package from overseas and they told me I had to pay an $800 fee for insurance purposes. I broke down and paid them, but then they told me I had to pay another $700. This company is a complete scam and extortion racket. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! San Fransicsco California

Very simply, I ordered a package from overseas. It comes to the US and it says it needs an $800 refundable insurance fee on it. So, after some haggaling back and forth I agree to pay and the customer service representative tells me to check in 5 minutes and it should be cleared and my payment refunded. Next, I look and I see it has a $700 "insurance fee" on it that I have to pay. I tell the rep that this is insane and I've never heard of such a thing. Even if I paid the additional $700 (which I can't afford), what's to say they won't come back 5 minutes later and tell me I owe them $600?

They also threatened that they would report me to the police for not paying the fees. This is completely outrageous and I've never heard anything like this.

This company has offices all around the world, but I believe they are based in South Africa. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE! They are nothing but scam and extortionists.
