The USPS is NOT an EEO employer. I am a living wittness to this fact. Believe me, I tell no lies. Look it up on the internet, 'NRPclassaction' and MORE is going on. There are no 'contracts' being, even in the slightest, complied with. The USPS has destroyed/wasted MANY peoples lives, promising EEO and and doing exactly the opposite.
Management is nothing less than liars and thieves and they absolutely discriminate, just for their own selfish selves and their personal gain. The people 'in charge' are nothing less than criminals. They break and are breaking the law as we speak, and the Congress and Senate KNOW this to be fact and are doing nothing about it, allowing MANY peoples lives to go down the toilet. That's right. Straight down the toilet. So go ahead, get a job with a bunch of law breaking LIARS in charge. Do all the work while they get paid all the 'big bucks', when they should be in jail with every penny seized and returned to the USPS revenue. Last 'tally' I saw was the USPS was/is over 7 BILLION dollars in the 'RED' (debt) and they relentlessly continue to run the boat ILLEGALLY, and the powers that 'be' above them do NOTHING. (our 'lawmakers')

..anyone can go postal....
But all kidding aside, there is a class action lawsuit against the P.O. but it is not regarding race. It is regarding injured employees.
See copy of EEOC Administrative Judges decision granting class certification.
See copy of EEOC OFO decision granting class certification. As far as getting themselves 7 billion in the red, I would be interested to know how this happened, but most likely will not get a straight answer..or any set of answers that agree or can be backed by factual data.

AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY...
WHEN YOU HAVE A U.S. PRESIDENT WHO REFERS TO THE ILLEGAL ALIENS AS "US" AND "WE" AND WHO WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT THE INFLUX OF NARCOTRAFFICANTE CARTEL COURIERS ACROSS A WIDE-OPEN BORDER SO THE BLACK OPS GROUPS AT THE PENTAGON AND CIA AND OTHER POWERFUL PEOPLE HERE AND IN GREAT BRITIAN CONTINUE TO RAKE IN THE MONEY, YOU EXPECTED THIS GOVERNMENT TO GIVE U.S. CITIZENS JOBS????
YOU APPEAR TO BE THE ONE WITH THE AUDACITY OF HOPE.
NOT A GOOD IDEA TO QUIT IN TO TODAY'S HORRIBLE ECONOMIC DEPRESSION BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF OTHER JOBS. IF YOU QUIT, YOU MIGHT NEVER WORK AGAIN.
SO IF YOU DON'T CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE AND JUST DO YOUR JOB AND KEEP THEM FRO M SETTING YOU UP TO GET THE BLAME, I GUESS WE WILL BE SEEING ON THE NEWSCAST WHERE YOU WENT POSTAL...

Well there are several possible reasons..

I have lived in NYC, NJ, Tennessee, South Florida, and now LA.
I remember the first time I went to the PO in Jackson TN..it was a quaint little house with a screen door. No lines..no fighting for parking, no trying to find a parking meter that works etc. I pulled right up in front, walked in..and had to call out "hello" before someone came to the counter. I guess one person was running the entire PO mid day..and it was very laid back.
The problem where I am now...is..and this takes a list to compile..
1) The traffic and aggravation just to get to the PO (which is only 1/2 mile from my house), I am already aggravated before I even walk in.
2) When you get there, to find a parking meter that works. If you get a parking ticket..it is 50-75 bucks..and since 1/2 the meters are broken..it is a crap shoot. You see a spot, park, put a quarter in..and nothing happens. So..what to do? Try another quarter?..or leave a note? I choose to find another meter.
3) When you finally get to park and put a dollar or so in the cover the projected amount of time you may be trapped in the hell office..you walk in and the place looks like a zoo. A line a mile long on a Tuesday Morning in Sept....is it Christmas already? Out of 5 windows..perhaps 2, 3 have a worker. And each customer is taking anywhere from 15 minutes..to 45 minutes each to process.
4) At this point...you are hoping you get back to the car before the meter expires. As the meter nazis stake out the PO..and can't wait to nail you with a 50-75 ticket for expired meter.
5) you get to the counter, and the person does not speak English. So you could basically walk in there 3 days a week with the same weight package..going to the same destination..but be quoted a different price each time..but what good is asking why, when you won't understand the answer anyhow?
I think you get the idea...what should be a few minutes in and out to mail a package..has become a stressful time consuming ordeal. Not much I can do about it here..this is not Tennessee.
Now..when you try to compare banks, wall street, car dealers and Enron...look at it this way.
The banks and wall street (which are the same basically) were giving mortgages out to anyone with a face..why? Because the Gub'ment got involved perhaps?
Car dealers are a different animal. We are not talking about mailing a package here. It is a major investment to buy a car for most consumers. They unfortunately trust a dealer because they trust the brand name. And then they get screwed. The dealers are only doing poorly due to the economic disaster..which was caused by???..
As far as Enron..it was a scandal that unraveled that brought them down. That can happen with any corporation.
Look...you want to mail a letter? What do most people do? Drop it in the mail. That is the USPS. Who competes with them? Why should they be losing money???

It's not clear from your rant exactly how the USPS is violating the law of failing to be an EEO employer. Perhaps you could site a specif example of their illegal practices. .

Possible reason

I've always though that the pace in small towns is more laid back and people (in general) are not as tense, thus easier to deal with.
At one point in my life we lived in Northern NJ and all people you deal with everyday whether government or private industry were much harder to work with, probably because the public they were dealing with were much harder to work with.
I sort of think that most large organizations are corrupt and are causing problems. Government agencies certainly but what about the banks, wall street, car dealers, Enron and on and on.

I have an ebay business and I use the USPS a lot. I have hundreds of transactions over the years and not ONCE, did they mess up. Others have not had the same luck..but my experiences are they get the mail delivered as promised.
Where there is a problem...is when you go there in person and have to deal with them at the window. It is slow and inefficient, and the language barrier (at least here in LA) can be troublesome, I have overpaid because of it. it is just overall a bad experience and very time consuming..not much unlike any other Government dealings..IE: motor vehicles.
However, the Post Office is busy, they charge a lot, and the prices go up faster then gas. Yet they are losing money? Only a Government agency can screw this up.
As far as the workers..I am sure most of the problems are not their fault.

Another experience

I have no reason to doubt all these problems with the USPS are true but - I have had another experience.
I live in a small city - about 6,000 people and our post office has black, white and Hispanic workers and there are both women and men. They have jobs as carriers, clerks and all the other jobs.
They are all courteous and are efficient and peasant to deal with.
I can also state that I can only remember one mail failure (a Netflix DVD never reached Netflix) in the 60 years I have lived here. Pretty phenomenal when you conside the trillions of mail items they deal with.
Maybe it's because it's a small Post Office, I don't know but we are completely satisfied with them.
Before I'm accused of working for them, I don't and never have. I'm actually retired from a K12 school system at this point.
Just saying they are not all bad in our experience.
I've actually had more issues with UPS (who also does a good job by the way) and they are not government controlled.
Just sayin'

USPS - 'BRAVO' - more responses about the RIPP-OFF employer!!
AUTHOR: clint - (United States of America)

I'm lovin' it!! The USPS is 'wondering' in front of Congress & Senate 'blowin' smoke' in their faces while their goin' down the 'tubes' as well. Makin' excuses on why how it is not their fault .
How many EEO cases have to be filed as 'wittnesses' to this fact?? Why isn't anything being done about this WASTE, FRAUD and ABUSE before a/the higher authorities step in and terminate these blatent lawbreakers?? USPS management UPPER management ARE corrupt as can be!! (This is a 'rebuttal' to the recently 'added' USPS comments about it as an employer.
Please!!! More wittnesses - 'step-up' to the 'plate' here on RIPP-Off reports. Tell your story as an additional wittness to the 'horror's' perpetuated by these so-called 'professionals' in the USPS who obviously would/could never 'survive' in the private sector with their criminal ways!! There should absolutely be another/more 'class action' lawsuits filed against 'it' , this horrid Monster of an bald faced lieing USPS management!!!!
It's no wonder the delivery service is in constant failure as well. Also, these same (most) managers think their positions are 4 days a week, 4-6 hours a day when technically/LAWFULLY they ARE supposed to be 24-7. When something 'goes wrong' when they are not there when they are supposed to be, they scapegoat and 'scam' their criminal way out of it 'somehow', 'anyway' they can, of course, accept being truthfull and blame their own gross negligence that caused the 'bad service' to be in the first place and simply resign or face termination.

I wish they would start hiring some people that speak English. Is it a prerequisite that in order to get a job there..that you do not speak a word of English?
And how come hardly anyone who works there is white? I went 6 months without a job and no one would hire me. I call reverse discrimination. But is it really reverse when the majority of workers are not white?
I call forward discrimination then. And if you work in America..perhaps out of respect..if anything else..you at least learn to speak the language of the country who employees you? Asking too much?
We have a racially mixed president for the love of Pete..why won't he do anything?
Blame Obama. Yes we can? Can what? Make everything worse? If so..then we have succeeded.
Now the trick is..who is intelligent enough to filter the sarcasm from the TRUTH? This ought to be interesting.

They treat casuals horrible too.
AUTHOR: Tracy - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Friday, October 01, 2010
I worked for them as a casual for four months earlier this year at a PDF and I was treated like s**t. I have never felt so misled and verbally abused in my entire life. They would schedule me 9 nights in a row without a night off adn I would never know when I would be getting off from work. Sometimes they would have me do last minute work and sometmes I would go in at 2 in the morning and get off at 5. My boss was verbally abusive to me and there wre times that I was afraid to even acknowledge his presence while he let the full timers do whatever they wanted. In fact, I requested time off from work because I was so burnt out for working too many nights in a row and he said no but let another full time employee have those nights off saying that I did not matter as a casual.
