This is for the few people, conspiracy believers, writing that the web site for the United States Postal Service is out to get your info. You are just too dense to take seriously. You write that they ask for your name and address. Can you explain to me how they are to forward your mail without that info?? Then a few said they asked for credit card information. Well there is a dollar fee to file a change of address online. How are you to pay online without a credit card? You can't send the dollar through the phone. Change of address processing is free if submitted at the post office. Even at a dollar charge it is white a bargain. You can live in LA and have all the first class mail addressed to the address in LA reshipped 3000 miles to NY. Someone in New Jersey mails a letter across country to you in LA, CA. Then USPS ships it back across the country to you in NY. They provide this service, 6000 miles for 44 CENTS! Don't know of a better bargain the country. As for using USPS as the logo on the site... that's their logo and initials. Yes as you say it is federal government but not like all the.other bureaus in government. It is iNDEPENDENT! Since the USPS Reform Act in 1971 NOT.ONE PENNY OF YOUR TAXES GOES TO THE.POSTAL SERVICE! All operating costs, payroll, insurance, everything comes from the sale of postage. I"d love to see other government agencies doing that! So they use their logo, trademark on their website so??? I don't get what you are saying. A last tidvit showing its independence the.website is usps.com not usps.gov. I couldn't help but say something when reading some of these statements. By the way we never really had a man on the moon, there's a secret area with all kinds of captured aliens, there were five ken who shot JFK.......

I believe a few states have a law preventing you from charging for the use of credit card.

credit card charge

The reason for charging a dollar on a credit card is so the postal service can verify you are who you say you are. It's for the customer's protection so that not just anybody can change your address.

the USPS doesn't steal your credit cards, retirement funds, and identity.
Like UPS does....
