Sue the person who hit you

I would file a lawsuit against the person that hit you.
Then watch how fast he/she contacts their insurance company to get you paid.
Similar situation happened with me many years ago. My attorney explained to me that my problem was with the person who hit me, not their insurance company. There insurance company refused to pay to have my car completely repainted because the damage to my Opel was only on the driver's side front fender. I had a custom paint job (color) and the firm that did the custom paint job couldn't match the paint. They tried, but when the car was parked in the sunlight, you could see that the fender was a different color than the rest of the car - so they wanted to repaint the entire car.
I filed against the guy who hit me. The day after he was serviced for court, his fathere called me (the parents owned the car and had the insurance policy) to ask what the problem was. I explained and the next day an agent for their insurance called me and agreed to pay for a complete paint job. I was also reimbursed my filing fee.

You Have A Claim Against A Person, Not A Company

People often misunderstand how insurance works. If Joe Smith hits your car, he has committed what is legally referred to as a "tort," meaning that he hurt you financially. As such, you have a right to collect damages from him. If he has insurance he can elect to have his insurance company pay the damages. He is not legally required to use his insurance, and you have no legal claim against the insurance company, because they didn't hurt you, Joe Smith did. Your claim is against Joe Smith and no one else.
Believe me, we try very hard to contact our insureds once a third party (you) tells us that they have been in an accident, going as far as to send them certified letters and knocking on their front door, but it sometimes happens that even when we send them a certified letter, which they sign for, explaining that they will be legally liable for all the damages if they don't return our phone calls, they still don't report the accident. We can't pay for a claim if we can't verify with the insured that he was in fact involved in the accident, driving a car that is on the policy, and wants to use his insurance. Otherwise, we could end up getting sued by our own insured for paying for damage that he doesn't think he caused.

I have a claim open with Unitrin right now, I would suggest speaking with a supervisor and asking for a different claims rep since you are getting nowhere with her. I have not been disrespected as you have, yeah this has dragged on forever. You don't deserve to get treated like that, so get strict and ask for her supervisor.

Rena,
Many insurance companies will deny a claim because the could not verify the claim with their policyholder or because they do not know who was driving the car. It may not seem fair but they are allowed to do so. It also does not mean that the whole thing has come to an end.
You didn't mention in your post if there was a police report or any witnesses to the accident. If there are, make sure that Unitrin gets this info. If you haven't already done so ask Unitrin if there is anything you can provide them that will allow them to consider your claim. Don't be afraid to to try to look up contact info for the other party on the net and then try to confirm that Unitrin has the same contact info. I can not recommend contacting the other party directly as I have seen that turn ugly too many times.
Obviously, if you have collision coverage, use it and let your company go after Unitrin or the other party directly to get reimbursement of your deductible.
Good Luck and don't give up.
