Unitrin is very impressive with there extremely low premiums.

They had me sold from my first quote. It was not until I got my first bill, that I realized i was a victim of financial rape!!! I got a bill for double my premium, and a rate change notice all on the same day.

When I contacted my insurance agent, they said that they were working on it, because I made it clear that I could not pay that outrageous amount.

Well they took care of it alright, I got a cancellation notice like 5 days later and another bill for captioned insurance.

I am going to sue this company, if anyone would like to give me some more information on unitrin I would appreciate it.

Why Rates Go Up

AUTHOR: Memo - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 18, 2007

Rates going up unexpectedly is a common situation, and the cause is almost always that the insured gave false or misleading information on their application. Frequently people will say that they have no tickets, haven't been in any accidents, have never filed an injury claim, don't have any other drivers in the household, have never been cancelled by another carrier, etc., but when we check (and yes, we have ways to check) we find out that such is not the case. When we find out that the information that the premium was based on is incorrect, the premium is readjusted (raised) based on the correct risk.

It does sometimes happen that we end up cancelling the policy, usually because of gross misrepresentation by the applicant - for example, we often discover that the person has no driver's license, doesn't actually own the car they are insuring, or are not telling us that their uninsurable boyfriend/brother/friend is the one who will actually be driving the car.

Sue for what? what was the reason given for the rate increase?

AUTHOR: Bill - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 19, 2005

Dude - you haven't told us anything at all.

First off - Unitrin Specialty and Unitrin Direct have nothing to do with each other. UD sells over the internet and by phone - US uses agents. So, please be clear in any response.

Now - try to address the actual situation. what was the reason given for the rate increase? Did you forget to provide the agent crucial information? This would be my guess.

Rates don't just increase on their own. What did the agent say?
