I cannot tell you how many times I have backed up this school on here. Every time there has been a complaint I come on to say how great this school is, etc., etc.  Wow, has my opinion changed! My financial aid has been incorrect for a couple of days now and all of a sudden I see that my pell grant money was sent back to the lender and UOP wants me to pay in full? I have sent emails to my financial advisor and to her supervisor and I have received no response. So finally I call and of course my financial aid advisor is not in so I talk to some other person and she said she cannot tell me why this happened.

So I was told to wait. Nice huh. Then today in the mail I receive a letter from my financial advisor saying my pell grant was sent back to the lender because I missed 14 consecutive days of classes or I have withdrawn from the school. I am livid!  I have been with this school for three years! I have never missed one day of class, nor have I ever turned in a late assignment. I have a 3.7 gpa and I do very well.  To have this happen is unacceptable. So, I called the school and some other guy answered and he told me I have been in classes and he does not know why the money was returned.

He said I may not be eligible for Pell which is ridiculous. I just got my award letter in the mail saying I am eligible for Pell.  Not one person in financial aid can tell me why my pell grant was sent back to the lender. Not one person will answer their email. This is totally unacceptable and ridiculous and I am so upset! I told them they have over 600 complaints on Ripoffreport.com and most have to do with financial aid. I am always the one saying great things about this school, but now after this happens, I can see why so many of you have filed complaints. If they do not straighten out this fiasco by Friday, I will get whomever I can involved in going after this organization.

What had happened with me is that last year I received $2,400 for the Pell Grant as a refund to me. This year they found that I was actually supposed to receive $2,775 for last year so they took the difference of $335 and sent it to me as a refund.
The financial aid office does have to keep applying for Pell Grant money for each student. My Financial Aid Advisor told me she applied again and I was just approved and will receive a refund in a couple of weeks. However, I did file a complaint with the Office of Dispute Management and I never received a response.

Your story sounds just like mine. My pell grant was also sent back to the lender, and I keep getting different stories from different people within the Financial Department.  I went on medical leave and cleared it with my FA before doing so, because I didn't want it to mess with my loans or grants.  I did everything she told me that I needed to and assured me it wouldn't mess with any of loans or grants.   Than they try to say that I was overpaid for the last school year, which I wasn't because I kept a record of my grants and when I received them.  Now I am being told that it's being reviewed. How many times does University of Phoenix need to review your account??  Didn't alot of us just go through this at the end of last year, where it took them two months to release our money.  I think it's just a run around...it's make me wonder if the college is taking our grant money and banking it to collect interest off of it.  Just a thought.
Libby please don't respond and say that you are sorry, I know it's not your fault, but I have been through all that and it doesn't help.

I just sent an email to the Office of Dispute Management as I am continuing to have problems with the financial aid advisor.  I won't mention names because people make mistakes, but she had said it will take 45-60 days for the Pell Grant? UOP already has the money. It's the UOP who sits on it and it's not right!

Now they are saying I owe $1,430 from August 2010? I was in their A.A. program at that time. Something is not right here. They state I got a check in the amount of $2,400 last year and I told them to show me a copy of my signed check. I haven't seen that! I do not know how they are coming up with I owe the $1,430? If I did last year, I would not have been able to get into the B.S. in Business program. I called Department Of Education and that's a joke as well. Someone please help me because I now know they are ripping me off!
