Upwork suspends accounts without appropriate proof and holds the money you earned.

My account was just suspended and they are holding the money I earned. I'm also unable to cancel my subscription because they've blocked my account so they are still charging me a monthly fee even though my account is unusable. Never and I mean never register to upwork. It's a waste of time.

I have experienced exactly the same - my account as a hiring part on Upwork also was suspended on a ridiculous pretext. After Upwork's Asian employees started asking for copies of my ID, I rejected their request, and asked them to either pay out the money to my freelancer for the job done, or to return the money to the credit card. The did not pay the money back, and simply stopped replying my emails. My over 200 us dollars is still in their hands, and I guess that without police report or a civil suit I can forget the hopes of getting my money back.
