They used me to rip-off another!
I answered the phone to an Indian sounding man, he proceeded to tell me of the grant and that I had been chosen to recieve. Being a student I thought "How nice". When I informed the person I did not have a checking account he said to use the information he gave on a company employee and that I would recieve the money.
I tried to understand all he was saying, the reception was not clear and after having me repeat the things he was saying I began to feel like there was something "fishy" about all this. When I began asking questions the caller disconnected.
I tried to contact the people by the telephone number but the line sent me to an insurance company. I thing I helped them rip-off someone else! Please help me locate this person. There are numbers and a name as well as the bank they said the money would be deposited in. I thought I would call my lawyer tomorrow or the FBI but then I found you. What can I do?

I felt so terrible that someone on the phone could easily use me to rip-off another. I worked at finding the lady whose name the rip-off gave me to repeat back into the phone. I had hoped that all the info was incorrect but everything I had been given was accurate. Her name, address, last four digits of SS# as well as her bank and account number. She already had a block on her account thankfully. She should never had had this trouble. She turns out to be 86 years old, a sweet, energetic little woman, minding her own business with no idea how anyone could have gotten such private info. This has to be stopped.
Thank you for this sight and all you are trying to do to protect the innocent from scammers.
