I received phone calls from District of Columbia and New Jersy, all claiming that I was selected to receive free grants from the U.S. Grant Department.  They told me I was to be awarded for not having any bankruptcies in the past 6 months, not behind in payments(?), etc.  I was told I did not have to pay this back and I can use it for business, personal or educational purposes.

DC called me and their number is 206-451-5857 and told me I would get $9,200 and they gave me a number to call and a reference number.  The phone number I was to call is 469-998-9741 in Texas and they gave me a claim number and told me that it can be directly deposited into my account.  This woman was foreign speaking, I think Spanish or Indian speaking.  I asked why I was getting this money and she told me the above reasons.  I told her this is a scam and she told me it was not.  I called her a scammer and hung up on her.

I got another call from New Jersey 201-214-2787 telling me the same thing.  This Indian speaking guy told me I was getting $4,200 for all the same reasons.  He also told me that it was a recorded line and that this was official and not a scam.  He asked me if I've heard of all the scams and he said this was not a scam but official.  He also told me I had to pay $3.87 in order to receive this check when it was delivered to me.  I asked why I had to pay that and he said it was to make sure the check was being delivered to the correct person.  He also told me I could also receive this by direct deposit.  I told him if this was official I would not have to pay $3.87 to receive this.  I told him I wanted an official letter from the U.S. Grant Department verfiying the legitimacy of this grant and I wanted an official check as well.  He told me I have to pay the $3.87 for this.  I screamed scammer at him and hung up.

I told all of them that the Government does not give out free money.  I told them in order to receive grant money you have to submit a long document explaining why you need this grant and what this grant money is going to be used for.  Then they decide whether or not you receive a grant.  They insisted that this is free money for me.  I hung up on all of them.

These people are liars.  I did not provide nor confirm any personal information with any of them.
