This company shows up prominently at the top of a Google search for us immigration when one is looking for actual government sites.  The web page is designed to appear as if it is a government page.  They charge but the implication is that you are submitting a legitimate government filing fee.  It is only after you have completed all the input that it is apparent that the whole thing is a subterfuge.

Once I realized I'd been "taken" I looked at teh site a lot more closely.  At the bottom of the home page in small, light gray, hard to read text is a discalimer that they are not affiliated with the government.  But, this text is off the bottom of the screen.  Unless you scroll down looking for it you would never see it.

The whole site is set up to look as if it is an official government immigration site and to deceive applicants.  Their charge is just to fill in a form that is available for free from the real us immigration website.  Also, their site kept repeatedly crashing, which was my first clue that I had been scammed.

I am going to challenge the credit card charge, but I don't expect much success.

Bottom line, this is a crooked, rip-off site that preys upon immigration applicants.  They ought to be charged with impersonating federal agents!

We apologize for the inconvenience encountered while accessing our website. We provide a service to help prepare immigration forms.  We are not the USCIS and we do provide information about what services and products our website provides and where to get the forms at no cost if our services are not needed on our home page.

Our online service simplifies the forms and walks customers through the applications by asking individual questions and making sure all answers coincide and are up to government standards. Once completing the service, the system will provide a completed form with simple customized instructions detailing which documents to send and how to properly mail everything to the USCIS.

If our services were not at all useful, we do allow for the cancellation of services and refunds when appropriate. We provide our contact information on almost every page of our website. We are available via phone Monday thru Friday from 9am to 8pm EST. Please feel free to contact us for any further assistance.

Thank you,

American Immigration Center

Ever heard of .gov ?

" Bottom line, this is a crooked, rip-off site that preys upon immigration applicants. "

More accurately, it preys upon people who automatically choose whatever site ranks high on Google and never bother to read anything on the website before handing over their money.   For future reference, most government department websites end in " .gov ".  Additionally, the opening page on this website says very clearly :

Of course, you always have the no-cost option of downloading the blank forms for free from the USCIS website and then navigating through the pages and pages of instructions to hopefully complete your application without making any errors or omissions which could cost you additional time and/or government application fees.

Additionally, there is an additional disclaimer at the bottom of the page that claims no connection to the government.   Did you read anything on this site before handing over your credit card?   You really need to be more careful about who you hand over personal / financial info to.
