I recently purchased my home from Clayton Homes in South Boston, Virginia. I was promised a fully furnished EHome by the dealer. They tried to renege on the offer until I refused to sign the closing papers until I got my furniture. I should have run the other way then.

I made my first payment by money order on the 3rd of July. This month I was late because of an unforseen expense. On the third of August, I received a phone call from Drew with Vanderbilt and he proceeded to yell at me that my payment was late, I was due on the first. I asked him why is he calling me and the late fee hasn't even applied yet.

He stated that late fees are not applied until then as a courtesy to their customers but he was anything but courteous during the entire phone call. I was threatened, called names and laughed at by a so called supervisor.

I informed Drew that I would double my payment on the first of September which is not a problem for me, but after reading these complaints, I am nervous that this is just the beginning of a horrible 15 years. I will be sending my future payments by money order certified after I make a copy of them from now on. I would LOVE to get out of this mortgage with this company, I have been harassed one time too many and not ONE TIME was I told that our call was being monitored and recorded for quality assurance purposes. This tells me you don't WANT a record of what you say.

If there is a class action lawsuit, I want in.

Is my life SO INTERESTING to you for you to keep commenting? My payments are UP TO DATE and I have moved on. If you are not a customer or employee of Vanderbilt, WTF do you care for? Don't worry yourself with me or anyone else if you are not directly affected by the post made.

My professional suggestion to you is to seek professional help. I'm thinking some REAL STRONG MEDS. You too seem to be clairvoyant and can predict my life in the future. You're funny to me. I wouldn't ordinarily carry on a conversation with someone as emotionally disturbed as you, but I can't seem to help myself.

You sir, are one complete jackass. I feel sorry for you, not myself. I have a WONDERFUL life and Vanderbilt does not dictate my happiness.

HEY Ignoramus, perhaps you dont see this, as your sub prime attitude seems to be kicking in, but you set off a RED FLAG when you paid your FIRST payment late.  it may only be 1 day late, but it was still late.

 Then you set off another RED FLAG when you were 3 days late, and the Mortgage company STILL had not received your SECOND PAYMENT. 

Then  you set off the ULT IMAT E RED FLAG when you told your mortgage company that  you needed to wait until you were going to be 30 days late, then you would pay 2 payments. 

You have 15 years of payments, and the mortgage company doesnt want to have to go through this month after month after month, after month for the next 15 years.  No wonder they called you after only 3 days late. They were frightend that they loaned money to a sub prime deadbeat.

Your excuse of a "Paper Check, coming in the mail doesnt hold water".  your mortgage is due on a certain date, and they expect by then PERIOD.   You should have requested a due date change when you set up your mortgage. For a fee they would have done that.  I did that on my mortgage, and I am proud to say that I have made every single one of my mortgage payments on time.

I will say one thing, you had better hope I am not a Vanderbilt employee, because if I was, I would personally look for your checks when they come in, and shread them just  so I can foreclose on you.

You seem to have no idea of what I am talking about do you?  I have one question, who read the mortgage contract to you?

Maybe I Need to Make Myself CLEAR...

I did not put up my experience to illicit sympathy nor to"cry on anyones shoulder". I am also a Customer with a similar experience with ignorant employees of Vanderbilt. I'm a big girl and mature enough to admit a bad decision on MY PART to pay late, according to them ONE WHOLE DAY. Regardless of such, I have made my payment now and regardless if I am on time or late, I along with apparently anyone unfortunate enough to have to deal with them, there will be problems.

I received a letter saying I had no home owners insurance LAST MONTH before a payment was due when that is part of my contract as well as payment. I read my contact THROUGHLY AND NO ONE who signed it can be a part of any class action lawsuits. I was venting as I am sure most people who post here do.

I love the fact that you seem to be clairvoyant and predict my payments, maybe you should consider changing professions. If you ACTUALLY READ MY POST, you will see that I said after reading of other experiences, I know the kind of people that I am dealing with and will conduct myself accordingly.

With that said, have a nice day sir, and before you so callously make assumptions and offer your ignorant advice or opinion, if you have something mentally challenging to say, seek professional help before you post.

I feel there are a lot of people reporting on here about this company who have been treated, at the very least, terrible by this company. However, you are someone who seems to be setting yourself up for failure, then wanting to cry on this website about it. I feel that Vanderbilt is a bunch of sharks. However, still using that analogy, you are a person who cut yourself before jumping in the water and are now crying when the sharks are starting to surround.

I never said two months behind, I said that you "are already going to be a month late paying" pertaining to your second payment. I also asked the question "What grounds would you have to be in on a class action lawsuit?" Once again, if you make your mortgage payment on time and don't get behind, you will have no problems with them calling. Otherwise, they are well within their rights to call you if you don't pay on time.

You simply want people to feel sorry for you despite YOUR own mistakes. So this is a second home, that doesn't make you sound any better. It sounds to me like you are setting yourself up for problems by making a bad decision.

By the way, I don't work for Vanderbilt, accusing someone of working for the company being complained about is always a cop out from people who don't expect or think people should take issue with them. It should be obvious to anyone that you are making bad decisions and setting yourself up for your own misery.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to go back and forth with you all day. Apparently you don't have a life and all you do is troll forums. I am a government employee, I get paid ONCE A MONTH BY PAPER CHECK. Which means, in case you are unclear, BY MAIL.

Your arrogance is about the only thing funny about you. I have come to the conclusion that you are INDEED an employee of VANDERBILT therefore, I expect your ignorance.

If you are so intelligent and knowledgeable, why isn't reading your thing? Only aholes such as yourself would think that treating ANY human being in any way offensive is acceptable. In the state of Virginia, the threatsand language used by Drew are arrestable. I could honestly care less about the 3 bedroom home they suckered me into, I have a 6 bedroom home that I like very much.

If you are not a satisfied customer of Vanderbilt, do yourself a favor for the customers who are having their ONLY HOME taking from them (and I am not referring to myself), DROP DEAD...You apparently don't have much to live for anyway....

Your Lame excuse that you expected a grace period is WRONG.  But I see you are sub prime borrower who will come up with any excuse you can. So with that in mind I have made up my mind that you are a deadbeat.

2nd, you are due 2 payments when you are due on the 1st of the month, and you wont pay till the 30th, because 1 day later you would have 2 payments due.

3rd. you were late on your FIRST Fricken Payment, d**n Dude, Your first Fricken Payment.  You are sending a very ugly message to your mortgage company, and now you are telling them you will be 30 days late on your 2ND PAYMENT?  

4th, I stand by my prediction that you will eventually be forclosed on this loan, as your mortgage company will be tired of waiting for your payments.

5th.  If you make such a high salary why do you even need the grace period?  Are you spending every dollar as fast as you make it? 

Good Luck you sub prime A%%% Hole.
You are gonna need it.

First of all, I did not get too much in detail about my report. Your responses are inaccurate and frankly not needed. If my payment was due on the first of August and it is the 30th of said month, how am I two months behind? Secondly, this is my primary residence but not my only home. I am not new to paying mortgage, I am new to dealing with a mortgage company that is not reputable and uses scare tactics, name calling and daily harassment as techniques to resolve conflict.

Neither of you are aware of my finances, I CAN AFFORD my second home and although I made a bad decision to pay for my son to start college, what kind of monster AM I?, that does not excuse ANYONE to treat anybody like the way I was treated.

I am currently dealing with a reputable bank and when they say a late fee is added on the 15th, that's what it Thankfully I have never been that late with the reputable company. I am not making excuses for myself and now that I know what I am dealing with, I will be sure to make copies of all payments in the future.

When applying for the home loan, my pay stubs were submitted. On these pay stubs were my pay date. If there was going to be any conflicts with the dates that I am paid and the date that the mortgage is due, I should have been denied a loan. I didn't foresee any conflict because I was under the assumption that there was a grace period as with many companies.

My advice to the two gaping a holes who left their useless feedback, if you don't have anything nice to say, it's best to just keep your useless traps shut. I make a VERY HIGH four figures a month.I am not on welfare, I am married and college educated.

Don't need either one of you to respond, evidently you or a family member are employed by Vanderbilt otherwise you wouldn't have so much to say even after reading the 377 post by irate customers.

I would have to agree with you on one thing.  This is gonna be a crappy 15 years having you as a customer.

#1.  You were late 2 days on your mortgage on your FIRST PAYMENT.  One of the things we tell our customers at closing time is that a mortgage is your first payment on the list, even before food, or gas, or lights, or even  your car.  You had another "unexpected" expense?  WTH?

#2.  You are now late on your 2nd payment, and are telling the mortgage company you will pay 2 payments next month?  I guess you had another "unexpected" Expense?  Again you violated the basic rule of "Pay your mortgage first".

This tells me that you are going to be late every month, and you will be receiving phone calls every month of this loan until the mortgage company finally decides to foreclose on the home.

I tell you this is going to happen, they are going to Forclose on you at some point during the 15 years, because with customers like you , they dont need you.

From reading the report, it sounds like you are just now due to make your second payment, and are already going to be a month late paying. What grounds would you have to be in on a class action lawsuit? Make your mortgage payment on time and don't get behind, and you will have no problems with them calling. Otherwise, they are well within their rights to call you if you don't pay on time. I agree with anyone who feels that Vanderbilt is a crappy company to do business with, I
would avoid them myself, but you are starting things off on the wrong foot.

They aren't in the wrong to start calling. The payment is expected on the first of the month, they just don't charge a fee until after. I am left to wonder what kind of "unexpected expense" is more important that paying your mortgage. If your finances are so tight that one problem causes a late payment, you should have been more  careful about your timing in buying a home.
