I have encountered three bad dealings with Vandergriff Honda which makes them appear as scams. The first time a friend and I went looking at used cars in their used car lot. The salesman aggressively tried to sell us a car. The salesman took our contact information because we told him that we were not ready to buy. the next day he called me several times at work telling me that he could get me approved and that my friend was already approved and was picking out her a car today.

I was unable to reach her and I went to the dealership after work. He talked me into this 2002 Honda Accord Coupe. He told me to take it home and don't worry about it. I told him the payment I needed and that my car which was paid off would be my downpayment. I took the car home and the next day at 7pm he called and told me he was ready for me to sign the papers.

Once I reach the dealership I met with the banker which turned out to be an investor. The deal was for me to pay $550 a month for three years because it was a lease. I then was suppose to get it refinanced. I told them no to such a foolish deal. He also wanted 1200 down plus my car. I told him that was too much and I was not leasing a used car. The salesman went on this long ramble on how I should write a check and let it bounce. That should give me 45 days to come up with the 1200 dollars. He also told me that I should think about filing chapter 12 if I cannot pay the 550 a month after I buy the car.

I was disgusted!! I told him to bring my car around and let me go. I found out that he lied about my friend and that she never talked to him again after the first time we went looking at cars. Two days later he called and asked if I could get my friend who he lied on to cosign for me, needless to say I hung up on him.

The second time I encountered Vandergriff was my sister got a letter telling her she was preapproved with this financing place. She gave them her information and they approved her over the phone. They told her to take the check and approval number to Vandergriff and they should not even run her credit because financing was in place. Once she got there, they of course said okay and that they knew about everything.

Well they ran her credit again and said that she did not qualify. When we call the financing company back they said that Vandergriff should not have ran her credit again and did not know what was going on. The company claimed they attempted to call vandergriff but could not get anyone to return the call. She left with no car because the finacing company said they only work with Vandergriff Honda in the area.

The third and last time was just this past week. My best friend went to them the day after Christmas to look at cars. She walked away with a 2005 Honda Accord. My friend was so happy. Well they contacted her January 7th about two weeks later saying that she needed to bring the car back. They told her that because she had worked for a temp agency two years ago it showed unstable job history.

That was such a lie. Her present job is great and she has been there awhile. It is obvious that it is something else going on with this dealership that is shady and untruthful. The salespeople lie to know return and they are quick to give you a car and then take the deal back at the drop of a hat with a sorry excuse that makes little sense. STAY AWAY from them. The dealership is a scam.
