In May of 2014, my partner and I purchased two new vehicles from Vandegriff Honda. I was using a trade which had negative equity and he had no trade at all, he was just purchasing a car flat out. The first problem we had was with the financing piece, we were both called back in at least once after a week to "re-sign" papers. The second problem was the registration and tags, those items took nearly a month and a half to come in; now, whether or not that was the dealer's doing, I do not know, but I wanted to note it anyway. The third and the LARGEST problem that came from this entire deal is that upon reviewing our contracts, we noticed that the dealer added on an insurance policy in the amount of $2,200.00 and extended warranty in the amount of $2,000.00 to BOTH vehicles. Those items have since been cancelled and luckily, since it hasn't been very long since the purchases, we got almost all of the money back on the loan. In addition to the warranties and insurance policies, we noticed something else particularly odd, remember how I mentioned earlier that my trade had negative equity? Well, we think that the dealership used BOTH cars to absorb MY car's negative equity. How is that fair? How is that right or even LEGAL??! I am hoping that we can recover lost money on his car through legal action which is currently pending.
We have since discovered that we are both EXTREMELY upside down on these vehicles all thanks to their horrible business practices. How can these people sleep at night knowing the position they put their customers in?! I beg of you to not purchase, lease or do any kind of business with Vandergriff and if you do, make sure you CYA and read EVERYTHING before driving home in a new car from them.

Similar Experience at Vandergriff Honda
AUTHOR: AmberW - ()
SUBMITTED: Monday, September 29, 2014
I had a similar experience at Vandergriff Honda but it has proven to be far worse. My fiance and I went in on a Saturday to purchase a car that I saw online. Vandergriff is about a 45 min drive for me but I wanted this car. The first red flag was that when they wrote up the purchase order it was for $2000 more than the advertised price of the car. When I pointed this out the sales manager said "Oh, I didn't know that you saw this on the internet".
After 3 hours of waiting I was finally out the door only to be called two days later stating that the loan they set up did not go through and they needed me in to sign for a different loan with another $1000. I was upset as I work long hours and why did they let me think that everything was done if it was pending. Lucky (or rather now I know unlucky) I had the extra cash as I had just sold my vehicle on Craigslist (for twice what they offered in trade). The Sales Manager, rather than apologize for the inconvenience proceeded to yell at me and told me if I didnt come in by Wednesday he would find me to get the car!! So my fiance and I went BACK to the dealer. Not only did the rate go up but the dealer told me he would have to raise the price of the car because of the lender fees.
At this point I had no choice. I had sold my car and felt stuck. I signed the deal. So began the nightmare that I have been dealing with for 6months. I was waiting on my plates and did not hear anything. About two weeks before the temp expired I called them and was told they didnt know where they were but would check. I did not recieve a call back. Two days before the temp expired I called and was told that it was taking time to get the title and I needed to come back and pick up a new temp. It again took about the total amount of time the temp was valid to receive notice that they recieved the plate.
About 3 months passed and I recieved a red light violation at my home. The photo was of a red car, mine is white, and a different license plate. When I called they said it was registered in my name!! Come to find out that Vandergriff registered two vehicles in my name and gave my original plate to someone else! I have had to take time off work to deal with this with the City of Ft Worth and the DMV.
So my advise is to call the DMV and make sure they have the right info! Worst company I have ever dealt with. Not only did they lose a customer with me. . .I make sure I tell everyone about my experience.
