I was in interested in purchasing a used 2010 Porsche 911 from Tony's Auto World, a used auto dealer in Parma, OH. The purchase price was unusually low at $49,000 for such a low mileage, luxury sports car.
Prior to contacting the dealer, I paid $6.95 to VinCheckPro for an online report on the vehicle. I received a cursory report that simply stated that there were no title, salvage, accident, mechanical issues.
Based on VinCheckPro report, I was ready to contact the dealer to discuss a possible purchase. To the dealer's credit, his website offered a free CarFax report on the vehicle. This report revealed that the vehicle was involved in an accident and declared a total loss prior to being repaired and offered for sale.
The VinCheckPro report was worthless and misleading amounting to consumer fraud. I will be contacting my state Attorney General's Office and the Federal Trade Commission reagarding this company.
