A few months ago I got a call from a sales rep from Virtual Click marketing wanting to get my limousine website on the first page of Google. First off, the rep was anything but professional. Second, my site was already on the first page showing he didn't do his research, and third, the keywords he was offering to put me under were terms nobody was going to be searching. I have been doing my own PPC with Google so I know what keywords work and what do not. He said he had no way of tracking the traffic to my site, all he could do was keep me up there on the first page. The price was outrageous for the three or four terms offered. When I asked for terms I know are searched the priced doubled. I was skeptical but I went ahead and had the rep fax me the contract to look over and forgot about it. About three weeks later a female rep from Pathnet Technologies, who was just as unprofessional as the Virtual Click rep contacted me with the same pitch, promises, keywords and guess what, a nearly identical looking contract! Both companies guaranteed me the offer was exclusive for my limousine company. Something seemed shady about these companies so I did some research. Neither websites for Pathnet or Virtual Click have the Adwords Qualifed logo on the site. I went ahead and checked out the companies on the BBB website. They are both listed as having the same exact office in Phoenix and the same guy owns both businesses. How stupid could you possibly be? So basically, this guy has at least two companies soliciting businesses for search engine placement, with bad keywords and also guaranteeing exclusivity, which is a lie! My guess is they keep you up on Google with the cheap words, nobody clicks you, and if they did it was cost a few dollars, if that, and they pocket the rest of the money. It's a scam a shame people do things like this. Beware!!! Go to Google directly.
