Vons stores are in the habit of asking repeadetly for small donations at the checkout and sometimes rounding up the total amount of grocery charge for donations to charities which the clerk at the checkout does not even know about.

The solicitation is done out loud, so every one in line can hear in order to shame bully the customer into accepting it.

It is a very bold, aggressive way of extortion for a cause which may not even exist, since it is not publicly displayed in the store nor in their advertising materials and when asked, the clerk does not even know exactly who the recipient of the donation is.

At the minimum, Vons stores should be investigated about the practice and if it is legitimate they should clearly display in the stores who are the recipients of the donations and make the solicitation in a more civilized manner.

If YOU are feeling "Shamed" then the REAL problem is YOU!!! Simple psychology shows us that shame is just a transferance from GUILT!!! YOU FEEL GUILT!!! Meaning YOU wish to blame the poor cashier for the FACT that YOU feel guilty that YOU dont donate!! Its NOT about shaming YOU, the cashier MUST ask everyone. Because THEY ARE TOLD TO OR LOSE THIER JOB!!!!If YOUR employer instructed that YOU have to clap your hands everytime YOU said the word "Peanut" then YOU would have to do it!! Do you think that the cashier enjoys asking each and every person if they would like to donate? I can tell you as someone who has had to do the EXACT same thing that it is NOT PLEASANT!!!People like YOU seem to think that YOU are so special that asking to donate is OFFENSIVE. Thankfully Vons DOES have a legal recourse in THIS situation. If THEY dont like what YOU have posted then THEY can sue YOU!!! What YOU have done willingly and with malice is called DEFAMATION!! YOU present YOUR OPINION as FACT and YOU do NOT show ANY wrongdoing on thier part. So YOU basically got on a PUBLIC FORUM to COMPLAIN that YOU were asked to donate a dollar. It REALLY sounds VERY PETTY of YOU and YOU should really look at yourself. I mean I fail to grasp HOW You would want them to be MORE civilized about asking for a buck. YOU arent having high tea, YOU are SHOPPING!!! They ask when you have the total of your purchase and they ask NICELY!! The issue is with YOU being such a cheapskate mouthbreather. All YOU had to do was use SIMPLE POLITNESS!!!All YOU had to do was say' No, Thank You for asking".
