In November of 2009, I took my 2000 Chevy Malibu to Wal-Mart to get two new tires.  I knew that I should probably go elsewhere, but one tire was unusable and I went to Wal-Mart because it was the closest place. 

I dropped my car off and was told it would be done in an hour.  About 45 minutes later, I got a call and was told that they didn't have the tires I requested so it would be another hour.  When my husband went to pick the car up, the technician informed him that the key got stuck in the ignition and that he ripped it out. 

My husband tried to insert the key and turn the car on, but the ignition would not turn.  We told them we expected them to pay for it seeing as we had never had this happen before and they refused at first.  At first they offered to pay half of the repair cost and said they would take it to the place across the road and get it fixed and that we could pick it up from there the next day.

When we went to get it the next day it was still sitting in Wal-Mart's parking lot.  They informed us that the place across the street couldn't fix it for an amount they were willing to pay half of and that we would have to take it somewhere else.  They also said they had filed a claim with their claims management service and that they couldn't do anything else for us. 

The car sat in Wal-Mart's parking lot for almost three days before we finally had someone from AAA come and fix it.  Of course, the claims management service refused to pay for any of it and they refused to talk to us about any kind of compensation for our inconvenience and repair costs. 

I haven't shopped there since and I don't plan to ever go back.  Don't take your car to Wal-Mart!  They aren't even real mechanics!
