I was given a Wal-Mart gift card for $50.00 by a neighbor as a thank you gift. Upon trying to use the card I was told it needed to be activated. I called the number to activate the card and was informed that I needed the activation number on the card givers sales receipt. To embarassed to approach the gift giver months later, for she will probably no longer had the receipt and I didn't want to make her feel bad, Wal-Mart is collecting the $50 and has a very frustated and disappointed customer. How many of you go back to the person who gave you a gift to complain? I am sure Wal-Mart has pocketed all kinds of money this way! This is the only gift card I have ever had this kind of problem with. I am already tired of Wal-Mart and this just adds to the frustration. I won't shop there anymore!

All you need is the code. Ask the person.. It's not Wal-marts fault that you do not have the code. It's the persons that sent it to you. If you're still unhappy with that. Call the company that makes the card, complain about the code being only on the receipt. Wal-mart is only a retail store, they don't make those types of cards and shouldn't be to blame when costumers don't read the backs of the cards.

IF I GRABBED A WALMART GIFT CARD OFF THE RACK AND WALKED OUT WITH IT, IT WOULD DO THE SAME THING.
IT HAS TO BE ACTIVATED BY THE PAYMENT OF MONEY AT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I HAD A REFUND AND THEY PUT IT ON A WALMART GIFT CARD AND THAT IS HOW I KNOW ABOUT IT.
