My wife and I both received an offer to transfer a prescription currently with another pharmacy to Walgreens.  For this, they promised a $25.00 Walgreens gift card to each of us. We are both on Social Security, Medicare and insured through a private insurer for our Medicare part D.

We both transferred a prescription from CVS over to Walghreens.  When it was time for the refill, Walgreens called us to come in and pick it up. When I went to Walgreens to pick our medications up, I was informed that we would not get the $25.00 gift cards, because we were insured by a Medicare part D insurance company.  They would not give gift cards to "public assistance" insured individuals.

I contested their policy and informed them that Social Security was not Public Assistance and also we paid for the Medicare Part D insurance plan. The clerk and the store Manager would not listen to me and I left with out medications and of course with out the gift cards.  By the way, they said "Why not just take your medications anyway"

So now we have to transfer the prescriptions back to CVS.  This will take time, effort and exasperation that were all unnecessary.  By the way, the Manager of the store said that this was all explained in the fine print at the bottom of the email that was sent to us. We did not see it and therefore did not read it.

But thinking about that, since all public assistance was not acceptable including Medicaid and all Social Security plans and Medicare, who does that leave to receive this offer?  This is Tampa Florida not Westport, CT. Thanks Walgreens.  We will remember your little scam for years to come.

 Could you let us know what mission statement Team Rebutt has??? Remember grammar and math errors cause by using a phone to text does not count unless done by Team Rebutt. If a person makes a mistake, they get pounce on by the Team. What is the real purpose to have Team Rebutt posts???  Enquiring minds want to know.

I write on this site to expose people filing frivalous reports. I am not a "shill" for any company, I come here and browse reports in my free time.

"What was the purpose of your response.  Are you a Walgreens shill?  My wife and I are both in our seventies. We responded to the offer in a plain and honest manner. We missed the fine print."

You should try reading the entire page next time then. They didn't hide the restrictions from you. You just read half the offer, ignored the asterik, and assumed you qualified.

"To Ashliee:  If you got an invite for a free meal at a restaurant, would you expect the fine print to say only for those 10 and youinger and only on monday morning at 9am? You might not have read that, but, who in the world would imagine such a requirement? That offer might be legal, proper and valid as it stands, but, you be the judge on the particulars. This sort of thing happens all the time with businesses today.  Read our post again, you might get a better insight as to the essence of our complaint. If you do not get it, then why not just forget it!"

I don't expect fine print to say anything. If I got an email for a free meal for someone 10 or younger at 9am on a monday, then I would expect a 9 year old to geta free meal on a monday at 9am. I wouldn't expect a 30 year old to get a free meal at 3pm on a tuesday. Companies are free to make up any sort of ridiculous requirements they want PROVIDED they inform you of the restrictions. Walgreens did indeed inform you of the restrictions, you CHOOSE not to read them. I understand the essence of your complaint, you feel that anyone should qualify for the $25 offer. Walgreens has restrictions and you don't like the restrictions.

No ripoff here, just someone who didn't take the time to read and understand an offer they recieved.

You might not have read that, but, who in the world would imagine such a requirement? That offer might be legal, proper and valid as it stands, but, you be the judge on the particulars. Pretty plain english

There's an asterik next to the get a $25 gift card free. That usually means to read the fine print. If you go to the bottom of the page it reads:

"*This offer is not valid for and cannot be used by any patient who is currently or has been a beneficiary of a federal healthcare program, such as Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part B, Medicaid, TRICARE or the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program any time in the 6 months prior to coupon redemption. Offer not available in Alabama, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon and Puerto Rico. Other transfer restrictions may apply."

Its very plainly written that medicare part D recipients do not qualify. next time read the offer before trying to take advantage of it. No ripoff here.
