The date was Dec.24,2007 and my wife was have contractions off and on as to be ready to deliver early so I was worried because we had not purchased a car seat yet and we had to have one if she had the baby to bring her home.
My 15 year old daughter and I went to Walmart she (my daughter) needed a few things as well as all teen girls do. I went to the baby section she later (10 min)met me there.I had been trying to figure out the car seats like which price went to which and what colors were available and styles etc
We found the car seat we really liked however there were two of them both out of the boxes and they were GREEN the ones under them in boxes were blue we could tell because both other boxes of blue seats were open
Well my daughter says "Look Dad why not just put a green one in the box and put a blue one on the shelf so there will be a blue and a green on display and two blue and 1 green for sale in boxes.
I know Walmart having 8 girls I had shopped there alot (ALOT) if I had went to the register without a box it would have been a mess with price checks and all
I looked at the prices of the last three stickers on the shelf they were 129.96 129.98 so i tried to find a employee after 15 min no avail I took my daughters advice and we proceeded to the checkout
When we got there there were two people at the register one picked the box up and used the hand scanner to scan it the other said "hold on thats not the right seat for that box " the other guy looked and said"well the color is diffrent but it seems to be *&^%$#@ and she sut him up didnt even let hm say another word past (it seems to be )
She the (asset control???)call me to the side and said I was on camera SWITCHING BOXES!!! I then exclaimed I did not switch boxes I switched a blue safety 1st seat for a green safety1st seat because there were no green ones in boxes and thats the color I needed to match my wifes green expedition She then called me a liar and said they were nothing alike I then asked her to walk to the baby dept with me When we got there we were aproached by another asset control?? guy and I showed her by sitting the car seats side by side that all that was diffrent was the clor she snatched the car seat off the floor slung it up on the metal rack shelving and said to me in a loud and rude voice "Look you white hippy mf you are getting on my nerves you need to get your a!! out this store before I get the cops in my office to carry you out You aint buying nothing at this store>" I was so stunned and shell shocked I hadnt noticed my daughter had stepped up she was heading straight for the asset control??? who was cursing me out I jumped over and stopped her and left the store quickly before my daughter could get in trouble.
When we got outside I got jessica (my daughter )in the truck and called the store with my cell phone and asked for the manager They said she was out and would be till the 28th of december They passed me on to the acting manager and I explained what had just happened and asked him to come outside and speak with me he agreed and never showed we ended up leaving after another 30 min waiting I will never shop Walmart again in fact I am trying to get Fox 21 to do News piece on it now

Having formerly worked in this particular store several years ago I completely believe you. There is nothing in your story that shocks me at all I am sad to say. Although as an aside in defense of the asset control folks it kind of does throw them off when you switch boxes so perhaps a better solution would have been to take both the seat you wanted and the box they had to the front of the store. That not withstanding it isn't like you are the first person to ever be unable to find a Wal-Mart associate. They have an amazing ability to never be around when you need them. I am sorry that you had that experience in that store and unfortunately I can not say that you would have any better luck at the other Anderson store. However, the Central store is nice! Perhaps is Wal-Mart ever cared to make some changes they might put more emphasis on keeping their stores clean, well-organized and well-staffed and that would ease everyone's headaches.

Wow, that is a crazy story. I used to work for walmart and I can tell you what I know about their policies and operations. Asset control (or loss prevention as some stores call it) is just the security of the store. They sometimes have a control room with security cameras watching people, etc.
What you did was more serious than you realize but they really overreacted. Shoplifting and product theft is a big problem for walmart. You can't imagine the things people will do. When you switched boxes without telling someone who worked there you technically committed a crime. There were people actually arrested at the store I used to work at for switching prices on tv's. However, they should have listened to your explanation. The person that cursed at you will and should be fired as long as you keep complaining about what happened.
The store manager is not who you should talk to. You should first try the distract manager of the store and then the regional manager of the store. Plus call the WalMart headquarters in Arkansas. Call over and over until something has been done that satisfies you. The people that over reacted and/or cursed at you should be fired, the store manager should be punished for making you wait while he said he was coming to speak to you...the list goes on and on. They really messed up in handling your situation. Explain to whoever you talk to that you waited at least 15 minutes before you switched the car seats and only did so because they were different colors.

I second the motion of never shopping at Stalinmart. You story adds to my boycott.
There is always an idiot that wants to play corporate goody two shoe for walmart.
Someday when they get the ax or theycut their medical benefits they will learn the hard way. It does not pay to eat, sleep and breath for corporate stalinists.
Tell your friends and spread the word.
Good Luck to you

Why even mess with the boxes anyway. You should have left them as they were. You could see how this would have given the appearance of switching products so why are you getting mad at others for what you brought on yourself.
Just because a teenager makes a remark doesn't mean you have to act on it or go along with it. You are the adult right????????????

i see the response from the two walmart employees to each his own opinion however i have no reason to cheat walmart out of 2 cents and 1 st as you put it if the inventory was so acurate and they were so organized they wouldnt of had two of the same seats (same color ) on display and even the manager agreed with me on that one and by the way the store manager was out of town when this took place
i was contacted by management and given a formal apology and the manager of the store as well as the district manager of asset control said the matter was not handled right. I see now how judgemental walmart eployees can be from your comment I guess you were out playing on your pc the day of training when they discussed The customer is always right or at least given the benefit of a explanation
I am sure sam would have never intended anyone be treated that way in his stores I know as a business owner Iwill and have fired employees on the spot for such actions
I am glad you responded with such agressive acusations though because people should see how little you think of other human beings and the inocent till proven (you must prove some intent or gain)( 2 cents )
The manager said around christmas security does get a little cowboy however that was not excuseable and so my final thought
Be selective on your shopping choices and remember you may pay a little more at a Ma and Pa shop but the service is second to none because they need your business
I thank you all for your time and hope you never have to go through what i did and good luck to the walmart eployees who were so humane

I also don't believe your story. You admit to switching the product in the box. Even if it was the exact same item, but just a different color, and WAS the same price, the different colored items can have a different UPC code and by ringing up the wrong code for the wrong item, you have just cause the invertory numbers for 2 items to be off and have caused shrinkage for the store.
Also, no asset protection (as security person is now called) in their right mind would ever use profanity with a customer. And thirdly, there is absolutly no way that you happened to go to the one register with an asset protection person standing there. Him/Her being there was no coincidence, they came to you based on observing your switching of product.
Lastly, 15 minutes looking for help?, assuming most (if not all Wal-Mart are setup similarly) the infant department is right in the middle of the softlines (clothes) department which has a fitting room that is manned by someone from 7am to 9 or 10pm everyday.

I do not believe your story at all. YOU took it upon yourself to "switch boxes" by taking the blue carseat out of the box, and putting the green carseat in the box. I highly doubt that you did this "out of the goodness of your heart" so that Walmart would have both a blue carseat and green carseat on display. Oh please! Why exactly do you need a box anyway? You are going to immediately take the carseat out of the box and throw the box away, right?
From the sound of your story, you DID switch boxes, and obviously the green and blue carseats were NOT the same item. Coincidentally the green carseat cost a bit more but the bar code on the box rang up cheaper. Well color me surprised, funny how that worked out.
Walmart had every right to demand that you leave the premises. What you did was against the law. You are lucky they did not prosecute you.
