First of all, I trained for a year with a trainer to get in shape as good as possible for a 60 yr. old man.  Even one of the guides commented on how good of shape I was in.  I had four different guides on four different days.  They all smoked except one.  I was encouraged to stop and buy beer on the way in from the airport, so they knew I had bought some...they even bragged that they don't get this kind very often.  So when the guides drank it they knew what they were doing.  I know lots of preachers who drink beer, wine occassionally.  No big deal.  We celebrate with wedding parties, etc., just shows how Wayne tries to play dirty. Yes, my legs hurt after climbing those mountains for a couple of days.  I never said I didn't want to hunt in the afternoon.  In fact, when I questioned the guide who was driving to the lodge (after I discovered what he was doing) about if we were coming back to hunt, he said: "No, we don't hunt in the afternoon, because if we kill an elk then we don't have time to pack it out before dark and the coyotes and bears will get it. Besides with this full moon we shouldn't even hunt the mornings."

Favortism was given to Trophy Quest TV who was there hunting free.  One did kill an old 4x4 past his prime because they had stopped climbing and sat down on a rock and this elk walked underneath them.  The other bull that was not shot was a small spike.  That's the only elk we saw.  The young guides (18-20 yrs) didn't know what they were doing, couldn't adjust to their clients, talked while walking, smoked while hunting, left me way behind,  They need to go to Guide School.  Wayne is a filthy man.  He even made lude comments about his wife, and told a story about a woman wrestling with a bear in front of other women (no details needed).  Wayne Hill Outfitting was the worst hunt in my 35 years of hunting.  I would discourage anyone from hunting with him, and I will never go again.  I fwouldn't go if it was free.

I have taken many trophy deer (SCI # 7) and now have #38 SCI bull elk, and none of them were over a corn feeder.  I gone home empty handed lots of times.

Wayne Hill Outfitting first class operation

AUTHOR: Mitch - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, March 26, 2014

I hunted with Wayne Hill Outfitting  the week before this Gary guy from Texas. I had a first rate hunt. In fact everyone in camp did, and the all  killed bulls. Eight in 4 days. Not only did we get bulls, but the guides packed every single one out the day it was shot. So to say they didn't want to be in the woods after dark is a gross lie. Among a lot of other lies I see in your story. These people worked their butts off for us. My guide was Chase, and he did not smoke, and he worked extremely hard to get me into "bull" territory. It was not an easy hunt, but it was a successful one. The whole crew at Wayne Hill's is top notch. From the hunt, to the food, to the lodge being kept immaculately clean. We could not have asked for more. My experience with the guides was that they were never hanging around in the lodge, if you wanted to spend time with them after dinner, you would have to go to the bunk house, which is in a seperate building some distance from the lodge, where they have their OWN beer. Most nights we were all too tired to do much more than eat and get some sleep.

Wayne Hill Outfitting Honest outfitter

AUTHOR: John - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, March 26, 2014

I hunted the week before Gary from Georgetown Texas, and I am appalled at what he wrote about this outfitter. I was guided by Ross Halvorsen annd he did not smoke, but he was hard working and I got my 5x5 elk with him. All eight of the clients in camp that week got their bulls. The guides never left early from the hunting area. They busted their tails for us. Packed out all the bulls on the same day they were shot. One the first day. Three the third day  and 4 on the fourth day. No body cam home early. My guide did not smoke. I never saw guides in the lodge after dinner was served for more than a few minutes. Wayne did go over the days hunt with them every night. I believe to make sure how everyones hunt was going. This outfitter pays attention to detail like crazy. But that is why they do such a good job for you. Wayne might be a bit rough around the edges, but to say he would treat his wife with disrespect is ridiculous. It was obvious whilwe I was there that she would not have tolerated it, and he wouldn't be stupid enough to do it.

Wayne Hill Outfitting first rate outfitter

I hunted with Wayne Hill Outfitting the week before Gary from Georgetown Texas, with Wayne Hill and that week everyone in camp took a bull, there were 8 of us. Not once did we leave the hunting area early in the day, and in fact all the bulls that were killed, were packed out the same day they were taken, even though this took until after 10 pm on two seperate occasions. All the guides and the drivers and packers worked their butts off to accomplish this. I had the time of my life with an outfit that works it's hardest for you and doesn't quit when it gets tough. All the guides were respectful and hard working. I had Wayne Hill as my guide, and he was as honest as they come. Worked his tail off. Walks like a mountain goat. And I will return as soon as I can.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

still lying Gary Whitbeck

AUTHOR: Annette - ()

You did have at least 4 guides, they kept trading you off because when they reported to Wayne that they did not go where he wanted them too, they got in trouble, but they couldn't get you to go where they needed to. If any one smoked it may have been one of the drivers, but drivers don't guide, and they don't go in the woods with you. If you wanted them to not smoke, all you had to do was ask.  Anthony, Richie, Kyle, and Ross did not smoke, ever. Still don't.

It is customary for the guide who picks you up at the airport to ask you if you want to buy anything, soda or beer on the way back to the lodge from the airport, then we don't have to do a special run just for you. I don't know what kind of beer you bought. I actually heard you offer the guides beer, you even offered it to me, although I do not drink. But I know they did not take it with out your consent or knowledge.

I know not one single guide ever said any of what you said about afternoon hunting. Not one. You maybe said it and they might have thought that you were thinking that, but they would never have ever said they wouldn't hunt afternoons. If you said you were done for the day, they would head back to the lodge, and no they would not drive over an hour back in the evening, if you wanted to stay, you should have said so. But if they came back it was because you wanted to. You were being catered to and had your own vehicle and guides, and did not have to share the ride with Trophy Quest. You were the only client in the lodge at the time. We had over ten guides on premises. Trophy quest had two guides. The rest were there to guide you.

Trophy Quest had two people. Actually we have video of the hunt and how the elk was taken. It of course did not happen the way you describe. Also the second person, the one that did not take an elk passed on a big 6x6 that was down the mountain bugling at him, and he passed on a 3x5 bull and it is also on video. We have the guides bugling and working hard to get the elk in on video. It actually aired on national tv twice. Then the company folded. But we still have the video.

The average age of the guides was 24.

Wayne NEVER made lewd comments to or about me.

You also took home a set of 6x6 shed antlers, did you tell your friends that you bought them? And again that is another story! Not only did you forget them, and we had to ship them to you, but you refused to pay the shipping and told us to take it out of the tip you gave your guide, Ross, who also doesn't smoke. We didn't.

Since you never once told us you were having a problem, it seems somewhat unfair to just publish a report and make up what ever you want. If there were issues, you could have mentioned them while you were here so we could address them at the time. But since you never even indicated you weren't having a good time, and you tipped me and your guide Ross, we had no chance to even know you were unhappy, as you seemed to be in jovial spirits while you were here. Maybe it was the beer.
