Complaint against Web Detective and Razoreye Media Group

I purchased a 7 day trial membership to Web Detective. At the 5 day mark, I was frustrated with all of the dead links I was finding. One or two are understandable. The plethora of dead links I found is not. As a professional researcher, this is unacceptable.

I prepared an email on day 5 to cancel my membership on the last day of my trial membership; I was trying to find out when the last day was. However my communication lines [I-net and phone] don't always work at this time. My em wouldn't send; I tried multiple times. I found navigating the site to find the correct email address to be frustrating. Due to illness and the fact I was looking for the date I needed to cancel;, not an immediate cancellation, I must have overlooked the Cancel My Membership section.

By the time I called the CS number just a few days later, it was too late. I was going to get billed. I cancelled my membership immediately.

I was told today I would have sent the em to the wrong place. I replied that it was not clearly stated in the confirmation info they sent me and in one place on the site it listed the em address I used. I was speaking with a supervisor. She refused to accept that I'd written the em for cancellation prior to the dead line. She didn't care about my illness or my communication disruptions. But, she said you still get to use the web site. I told her it was unusable. The dead links made it impossible for me to search out my friends and lost lines of family. I told her that the website did not live up to its promises and this was a moral violation although probably not a legal one.

Now I find they tend to keep billing. Terrific. I checked these guys out. They got a great review on a site I trusted. Stay away from anything under the corporate umbrella of Razoreye Media Group.

Lesson: Do multiple searches. When I typed in Razoreye, I also found this site. I will do a search on 'report bad sites' and place this notice with every site I can find.
