Welcome Wagon They were doing advertising for me, by sending out post cards. I have a Beauty Salon called Tres Leo Hair Salon, my rep. came out to talk to me about it & said, that maybe it will help me get more business & they said, they will keep it down to a minium of $18.48 a month, the contract was suppose to be for a year, I started with them on Oct. of 07. Well the prices kept getting higher & higher! Plainview New York

My Reps name is Mark O'Donnell, he has been nice to try & help me to let me out of the contract! Welcome Wagon went from 18.00 up to 37.00 I feel they broke their contract by not doing the right thing by me!

I did give them my Charge Account # & they still charge me. I did call Capital One & tell me, so they did 2 charge backs for me.

Mark O'Donnell did tell me he paid them off just be nice, but I am not sure because after that I got my charge card bill in the mail & they charged 32.00 on it, & the time before that, they charge 37.00.

I just been pretty upset by the whole thing, I don't think it is fair, they tell me one thing & do another!!
Needless to say I didn't get any business from the cards, except 1 man's haircut!!

I would also like to get some credit back for over chargeing me! I also reported them to the Better Business Bureau Mark O'Donnell's number is: Cell-727-433-2774

#3 UPDATE Employee

Totally dishonest company

AUTHOR: disgusted employee - ()

POSTED: Monday, February 17, 2014
  • I am a current employee of this company and I have to say thye are a completely dishonest and disgusting company.  I have had hard earned commission taken from me because apparently I was told that you don't get your commission if the client hasn't sent in their artwork.  I had a month where I sold almost $18,000 in sales very difficult to do in my tiny territories(btw I as also was lied to by recruiting saying an average contract was $2500. My territories have have small mads and my average sale is $700) I was suppose to get 23% commission and a $400 expense chck based upon my sales.  Well to my surprise, that didn't happen.  $6400 of my sales were not counted because the clients did not have their artwork in.  Well I don't know what business law class these people took but in my class at NYU a valid complete contract is signature and payment, that is it!.  This was just a ploy for WW to drop my commission from 23% to 21% and my expense check from $400 to $175. Now I am just one sales rep, can you imagine how much they make doing this over and over again. I also was not told that I would be getting $.25 deducted from my total sales for the postage on every postcard sold.  I worked for another company selling direct mail postcards and I was paid on the total sale, agin SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!!  I also won a sales contest the week of December 9th 2013.  The contest was anyone who sells $4000 worth of business would receive a $100.00 gift card. As of today February 17th 2014 I have not received it.  I am ashamed to say I work with this company.  I have received an offer from another company that I will take and I will not let WW know becuase I will collect my "draw" of $500 twice a month for 2 months, that will make us even for the commission that was stolen from me.  I can't actively sell this product to business owners because I am a person of integrity and will not associate myself with a company that has no scruples.

#2 Consumer Comment

Tres Leo Hair & Margie

AUTHOR: Mike - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, October 08, 2009

I just moved into the St. Pete Beach area and was delighted when I got my Welcome Wagon package, how helpful and nice information.  I still use the business from my address book today.  I have used the Welcome Wagon Website, I also got an offer from this hair salon, Margie should be ashamed of herself, she is an odd & outdated person and the salon was very, very, very dirty, Margie's response to me was very ugly when she said "o another coupon" needless to say I should have walked out, but I wanted to give a local merchant a chance.  It was the worst haircut I have ever had!  I would not go back.  I then wend to rip off report to report Margie and Tres Leo Hair salon and saw them badmouthing a trusted company like Welcome Wagon.  I then contacted the rep, Mark O'Donnell to inform him of the ripoff report.  He actually came to Margies defense, stating she was good for "wash and set"s and knew older women who thought she was the best, he had no hard feelings, and said that many of people who contacted him to complain about Margie, should know, she is a "Wash and Set" with the Typicall " Blue Hair" as Florida is know for.  Mark then suggested several other Salons that are Welcome Wagon partners, I have used and I am very Happy!. Thanks Welcome Wagon.  By the way Margies shop is closed (I guess lost the permit or was shut down for dirt) she has a lot of nerver to post his phone number, but if you need any information on the Tampa-St Peterburg area Mark is a wealth of knowledge.  He even suggested to me to keep his number, and when I was looking for a service or need help he would be happy to suggest a good business.  Thanks Mike F.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Margie, you do (and did) NOT understand the marketing program you signed up for

AUTHOR: Kathy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 30, 2009

Margie,

As a former employee of Welcome Wagon, I can tell you that the reason that your monthly rate went up was because your rate was based on the NUMBER OF POSTCARDS MAILED FOR YOU. It can go up or down. If more new families move into the area than did the previous month, then your rate goes up, because the price per postcard x the number of new families moving in = your monthly rate. I know the rates of Welcome Wagon products and their quality and I promise you that you got a great deal. You say that you only got "one man's haircut" from the program. I can also say, that after many years of helping businesses successfully market their companies, that very few actually accurately track their marketing programs. You were reaching new families in your area that were looking for a new salon. Postcards have a very high readership rate. Your message DID get to most families. Have you personally perhaps ever not had an offer or coupon that you meant to use at a particular store, but you went to that particular store and purchased the product anyway because you needed it? And, did you send multiple mailings to the same family (at least one each month for 2 or 3 months) as recommended by any marketing person to increase your success rate? The answer must be no, because for a mere $18 or $37 a month, you were only sending one postcard to the new families in your area. It never ceases to amaze me what some business owners expect from a very minimal program.

I took the time to rebut you because I worked for Welcome Wagon for over four years, and I would still be if I had not become disabled. They are a very fine company and ALWAYS to my knowledge went above and beyond for their customers, even customers like you. To my knowledge, Mark was a very fine representative, and one of our top representatives. Shame on you for slandering a great company an individual, and especially for posting his cell phone number. How very unprofessional of you.
