I HAVE MADE 4 CASH PAYMENTS TO MY LOCAL BRANCH WELLS FARGO OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS (OVER $10,000 CASH) BUT WHEN I TRIED TO PAY THE

FINAL PAY OFF AMOUNT ($2,100)  I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY AN ELECTRONIC PAYMENT OR CASHEERS CHECKS WERE ACCEPTABLE. CASH IS ABSOUTLY

NOT ACCEPTABLE.

BUT THEN , I RECEIVED A LETTER (YESTERDAY) FROM CORPERATE WF INFORMING ME THAT THE FINAL PAY OFF LOAN AMOUNT WILL BE OVER $13,000.  IT

SEEMS THAT NONE OF THE CASH PAYMENTS ($10.000 + MADE OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS)  HAVE BEEN CREDITED TO  MY MORTGAGE ACCOUNT.

IT GETS EVEN MORE EXCITING SPORTS FANS,  I THEN WENT TO MY LOCAL BRANCH OF WF BUT THEIR COMPUTERS SHOWED ALL DEPOSITS AND THE

EXACT PAY OFF AMOUNT I HAD PREVIOUSLY CALCUATED BUT CASH IS STILL NOT ACCEPTABLE

IT SEEMS THAT THE LEFT HAND AND RIGHT HAND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON IN WELLS FARGO'S HOOD.

Timing

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 16, 2018

It seems as if this is the order you did things. You looked online to what your balance was, you requested a payoff letter(they don't just send these unless you request it), you went into the bank to make cash payments, you then received the payoff letter.

The thing you seem to be missing is that the letter was most likely generated BEFORE the payments could have been applied in a timely manner. Where unless you know of some new fangled technology there is no magic wand to change an amount on paper that is curreintly going through USPS(or how ever it was being sent).

Now, I may not be right on the bullseye, but I bet I am at least on the target.  It comes down to a timing issue in how you are doing things.

As for the cashsiers check as the final payoff, that is really standard practice among every bank. Even though you are saying "but..but..but..it is cash", I get that but with every bank I have ever dealt with a Wire Transfer or Cahiers check is the way it is done.  So this is not just a WF thing.

The real question is why(or how) are you coming up with all of this "cash"? Why did you need to make 3 cash payments in 2 weeks? This wasn't a few hundred dollars, this was over $10,000(a very important number...if you read on). Why couldn't you just do a single transfer from one bank account to another. I had WF and have external accounts set up to transfer funds for my Mortgage, so it can't be that. In fact your payment pattern could be reason enough to raise some "red flags". Because of various regulations it could be seen you are trying to get around these payments being reported to the appropriate agenices(ie. The IRS).
