This whole thing started when we, (my husband and I), received a solicitation offering two free airline tickets within the Continental United States, if we would sit through a presentation for a discount vacation club.
We attended on the evening of, August 26th, 2014, at the New Rochelle Radisson, One Radisson Plaza, in New Rochelle, N.Y. 10801. At this presentation we as all the other potential customer couples, were initially paired with an individual sales representative, ours by the name of, Ray Fernandez. There was a person giving the presentation named, Adam. After the video presentation, when, Ray, could no longer answer our questions, he called Adam over, and he remained with us, as our sales representative for the remainder of the night. Adam said that the company (“Where My Dreams Come True”), provides its members with at least 60% savings, than what one would be able to find and purchase on any of the regular travel sites; I.E. Expedia, Travelocity, Travel Zoo, VRBO, etc. He told us the reason that they were, and are able to afford their members these discounts, is because they, ( W.M.D.C.T. ) hold one of a few wholesale travel licenses in existence, Adam further explained, that the travel industry websites mark up these vacations that they, (W.M.D.C.T.) sell to them, on average by 300%. It’s this ability for retailers to buy these vacations at such discounts from them ( W.M.D.C.T.) that allows them to make these types of profits on the public. He told us that buying a membership with W.M.D.C.T., would in turn allow us as members to buy vacations at the same, or close to the same prices, for a savings of at least 60%, without the middleman. The salesperson, Adam told everyone that his company use to be a tech based company, that designed most of, if not all the other travel sites in existence. Then they converted their web design company in to a wholesale travel company that supplies, or sells vacations to all those other travel sites.
We, my husband and I felt, if this is all true, then maybe this is something we might want to take advantage of. We told the gentleman about our concerns, 1) that we don’t stay in hotels, 2) we are accustomed to renting three-bedroom houses with a pool where ever we go, because we travel with our family and pet. And 3) we frequent Aruba. Adam I. assured us that wasn’t a problem, since they make arrangements for that exact thing, through their concierge service, in fact they can provide two weeks annually for no more than $ 850.00 a week, included in our two bonus weeks per year, anywhere. We then told him that we frequent Aruba, and wouldn’t entertain signing up with this company unless they could provide us this service, in which he guaranteed they do. He said “In fact if we find any product that they offer on their site for a cheaper price, anywhere, they would refund the amount by 110%.
We still had our doubts and only after an exhausting period of sales pitches and promises, accompanied by a couple of very steep price reduction, we signed up for this service. At first they refused to take our American Express card, but we told the salesperson that we wouldn’t go through with the purchase unless he accepted your card, due to the merchant fraud protection that you provide your customers. Finally when they realized there would be no sale, they decided to take American Express as payment. Several hours later at the end of the presentation, and sales pitches it was getting late, so Adam I., briefly showed us the website that we would have access to once, our membership was activated, (after the registration period), and they would forward us our access code. As I already stated it began to get late, and we really needed to get home because of work the next day, we explained our reservations about our purchase, to Adam. He told us that, “As with all contracts there is a three day revision clause, and we could back out at any time within that period.”
Low and behold it took a week to process our membership, and receive our access code by e-mail, but no welcome call. Either way, we were finally able to access the website, but it was nothing like they promised us it would be, no houses, no real savings, not the type that they told us of anyway. My husband and I decided that we didn’t have the ability to find any of the benefits promised us by the salesperson on our own, using the membership website, so I called the customer service representative telephone number on the header of the web page. Upon calling I received an answering machine, then I left a message and waited for a return call that didn’t come. I decided to call them back a day later, this time reaching an actual person, who assured me that the company was on the up an up, and she would help me find those promised savings. I gave her my requirements, and she said she would call me back with my accommodations.
When she did call me back, a day later, I felt that there must have been a communications problem, since what she was providing me with, and what I asked for weren’t even similar. After an exhausting, hour long conversation with the rep, going back and forth, she again told me she would call me back with my itinerary. Even though at this point the flags really started to fly, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited patiently for their call. When it didn’t come, I called the company again. I asked when we were supposed to receive our already late courtesy phone call, to guide us through the use of the companies website. She ensured us it would be coming, but asked if there was anything that she could help us with in the mean time. I explained my reservations with this purchase, their website, and my first experience with their customer service representative, that never did call me back to that point. She said she was sorry about that, but she would assist me in any way she could. After we went through everything I went through with the first representative, she just told me, she too would have to call me back as an concierge appointment, with a few personalized possible vacation itineraries for me to pick from. In the mean time I received my welcome call, the rep told me that she couldn’t show me what I was looking for on the website, that a concierge would have to call me back at a designated time and date to fulfill my needs. I explained that I had done all of that a couple of times but, either they didn’t call me back, or when they did, the itinerary had nothing to do with my requested vacations. She still said we must make the appointment and we did just that, we waited for that appointment too, a couple of days later we waited an hour past the scheduled appointment time, with no call. Due to having another obligation, we left our house for the evening. Upon our return home that evening there was a message from “ Where My Dreams Come True” they had called over an hour and a half later than they were supposed to. We called them back but no one answered the phone, so I left another messages, I then tried calling the concierge service explaining the situation, but it too went to an answering machine. They called back a couple of days later and by then I was feeling as though this company was a rip off, and stated such to the representative on the phone. The representative was rude and said that she didn’t care what the representative, Adam I. told us, but they have nothing to do with any claims he made to us, in fact she told us that the majority of which he told us was false. All the stuff about selling the vacations to other sites, everything he told us was bull, all we paid for was a concierge service, and they weren’t responsible for anything that those representatives said. All they are required to do is save us any money on the advertised full price for any vacation, and that it was too late to cancel the membership. She further stated we should be more careful of what we purchased. This infuriated me, and I felt like I was set up by scam artists. I gave it another try before making this dispute, called made another concierge appointment, gave them my specific requests, a three bedroom pet friendly house with a pool in Aruba, with flexible dates. When they contacted me a couple of days later, they furnished me with a two-bedroom condo, no dogs allowed. I explained the discrepancy and the concierge told me she would call me back with the revised accommodations. When they finally did, the house had no pool, and had a total savings of $100.00 for two weeks, from what we were able to find on other vacation sites with out a membership fee, in fact the trip they supplied us with was for different dates then I asked for. She then told us she would call us back, and we have yet to hear back from anyone from the company to this date.
During this entire process we were trying to call the salespeople that promised us, if we had any questions or problems, just call them, they would be there for us, but after numerous calls we never heard back from them either.
Realizing that we were in trouble here, and we were probably caught up in a scam, I called American Express to dispute this charge, for the reason that this is a fraudulent company, that operates through deceptive practices, with it’s many lies and misrepresentations. Furthermore the whole structure of the company, down to the time frame in which a member (victim) receives the ability to access their membership website, and explore their purchase finding out they are ripped off, is part of the scam, bringing the time frame beyond the contracts three day revision clause.
THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS WITH THEIR LIES AND DECEPETIVE PRACTICES. THERE ARE OTHER COUPLES TRYING TO FIGHT THIS IF YOU ARE READING THIS CONTACT ME SO WE CAN PUT A STOP TO THEM (((redacted)))
