Recently I had the bad experience of visiting this White Castle. I have been visiting White Castle since forever.

Upon ordering my food I asked for the senior discount which White Castle boasts they offer. I was humiliated by the staff at this location.

So later that afternoon I called their corporate who apologized and further stated it was their policy to offer Senior Discounts and went on to say how she would correct that situation and sent me a letter of apology. After a week or so I received their letter of apology with a coupon attached for my problems.

Several weeks have elapsed and I felt in all fairness it was an honest mistake so i stopped in once again and repeated my request for a senior discount, to my dismay I was treated worse then the first time sort of like we are now going to get even.

Of course I called the corporate office to lodge another complaint. Yes they did offer to send the 10% voucher but are they aware that it is not the discount in its self rather the embarrassment.

Honestly what can I say your superiority shines. I understand how a man of your stature has no time for peons like me. I mean after all you have shown just  valuable your time is by responding to complaints and feeling pretty tough as you bang away on that poor keyboard.

Tell me where you the type of child who was bullied by the rest of the children went home and wet his bed night? What a shame as it certainly has left it's scars on you.

May i ask a question as important you are how do you find the time to respond to these complaints. I mean it must take pretty much of your useless day to review and answer them.

Well I will get back to enjoying some of that tax payer dollar I retired on. Always worried that one day SS will run out of money. Oh yes they still have some dollars left and our government has raided their vaults show a balanced budget, but you with all your superior wisdom and knowledge are quite  aware of this.

I did take the time to research what you foolishly posted and will paste part of it for you to read. Ah education is the best! You simply seem so knowledgeable and worldly. I bet even the Bowery street bums look up to you lol.

Please keep reviewing these complaints for the world is a better place with you off the streets and behind a keyboard!

It's much more difficult to forecast what the federal government will do
about the problem. The national deficit will remain high for a decade,
according to both White House and CBO estimates. The national debt will
become so large that interest on it alone will reach $700 billion a year by 2019, so the Treasury won't be a realistic source for money to replenish the Social Security fund.

A number of economists, including prominent Harvard University Professor Kenneth Rogoff, have predicted
years of austerity for Americans as they face the need to pay higher
taxes to offset budget deficits, combined with lost services that the
government can no longer provide.

While no one is suggesting that Social Security will go away altogether,
its payments may need to drop for the fund to survive. Americans will
face less generous benefits for their retirement years, but that process
has already begun in privately funded retirement plans because many
Americans who put aside money for their golden years saw much of that
cash wiped out by the stock market crash. Adding to the problem, many
corporate and government pension programs are underfunded, and the money
to rebuild them may not be available as payouts to retirees rise while
less money comes in from corporate profits or from taxes at cities and
states.

The end game for Social Security may be that future American retirees
won't get that social safety net they had counted on, at least compared
to what was available in the past.

The money the government is paying you and the rest of us on social security is borrowed and stolen money. The social security money has been totally gone for years.
.
I am obliged to laugh at your attempt to use phrases and jargon in an attempt to impress with your vast vocabulary.  This gem really gave me a laugh, (Quote):I will be holding to you.  Be holding?

I assume you are trying to say I will be beholden to you.  Beholden is a synonym to indebted , or obligated. Leave the big words to the big boys.

I want to personally thank you for paying your taxes. Which in turn leads you to believe that you support me.

Senior discounts are probably the worse in your mind. But the truth is they help the economy in various ways that even a small mind such as yours should be able to see or figure out.

Let me explain as there are many seniors who would not be able to spread their dollars around with out these discounts. Me i am fairly luck made a nice salary and have two wonderful pensions which i am sure part of your tax dollar helps to pay.

Now this is interesting as I guess your reply was suppose to have me spitting fire, but alas I have no anger towards anyone.

Remember I am a former civil servant with an excellent pension so again thanks for the help by paying your taxes. Every time I spend money i will be holding to you. Also my SS is pretty top heavy so thanks again for the tax dollars.

I'm offended, that I, as a middle aged man, don't get the same discounts as senior citizens at restaurants. I mean, what makes them so special that they feel entitled to this? People in my age bracket drive the economy and pay their stinking social security and Medicare. So, they sit on their butts all day and get paid from my tax dollars and then they have the guts to whine about a discount at White Castle?!?!?!?! People ages 18-65 and actively working should be the ones rewarded with discounts.

Sounds to me like you've been corrupted by Obama's stupidity, my friend.

I need not defend my actions and it is not .30 or .40 cents. The discount I receive in other White Castle's amounts to $1.50 or more depending on what we order sometimes we also order a sack to take home.

Meanwhile White Castle Sucks and yes i do have a letter from their corporate office as they also sent me a certificate for $10.00 which I discarded for i was never looking for charity only what they offered as in the letter of apology to me.

I didn't throw you any sort of opinion on the topic itself. if you want me to, then here it is: Who cares. 10% off some hambergers at a greasy spoon? Look at how much effort you have put in to defending saving a few cents on a cheeseburger. Personally, if I wnt to buy something I buy it. If I get a discount, great, if I dont oh well. Did this particular white castle ever promise you a discount and is there anything in writing at the location that offers this?

I also see nothing on their website indicating any sort of senion discount. Perhaps it is by location.

Rich, lately you've been getting kinda hot under the collar there in your responses, ole boy!

I sense an escalating pattern that suggests in a few posts you might resort to the keyboard version of  becoming a deranged axe killer on a rampage.

What a change from what you yourself insisted you behaved like during your Massapequa humiliation.
and I quote you, "I was at all times reserved and polite."

Please go over your most recent posts. I'm just not getting the "I was at all times reserved and polite." feeling there.

I'm imagining you reading these responses, your eyes bulging more and more, face turning florid, then purplish, hair, assuming you have any, standing up at attention, eggs sizzling on your pate.

I've got to get back to work now, and stop thefting resources, before I find myself fighting giggling fits throughout the day.

Finally an honest individual who is not looking for the drama of being foolish or critical of another's experience. Without any intelligent knowledge and the remarks posted where done so as to incite stimulating conversation for the pathetic souls surfing this site not for true knowledge rather they wish to feel powerful while pounding the keyboard and condemning some one else from a distance like the coward who only attacks the sick and ederly!

I myself am a frequent flyer at White Castle  and avoid all contact with the location in Massapequa Ny for the staff and policy are different from the others such as Deer Par and Farmingdale which do provide you with excellent service as well as the senior discount!

To those that have nothing better to do and most probably collect some form of unemployment especially the alleged lack of anything else to do fools I say get a life and try to be productive in our society.

The person who goes to work and finds all this time to cruise the web and respond to heaven knows what that is a crime theft of services and the others could simply put their time to better use by becoming some needed volunteer.

So now i have said the last and knowing the caliber of person that responds I will simply laugh at the lack of life they have. Try being real signing your true name and do not be the keyboard bully or fool!

Go back to the hole from which you crawled out from under and find yourself a real life! Pathetic that some lowlife like you can pretend that his words are so important and only want he writes will be heard!

I can assure you that many have read you pathetic utterance of idiotic words. What gives you the right to label who is right or wrong? Begging as i am sure your mother begged the many men to be your daddy!

Maybe what you need is the harsh reality that you can not accuse someone of begging because you have no life other then to read what your boss's at White castle tell you too! Then write exactly as they say. You are a puppet who has his strings twisted in a knot so write as you wish you can not change the fact that White Castle sucks and has reneged on its offer.

I'm not going to say you're right or wrong and not judging. But after watching this play out, I couldn't resist adding my own devalued 2 cents.

As for White Castle in general, I always looked forward to bringing home a bagful of those little burgers after a late night out. Too bad I've none by me now.

White Castle Sucks

POSTED: Monday, January 09, 2012

When I open my email and see yet another response to my complaint I am fall to the floor with laughter!

Just to refresh your mind I never claimed the counter personnel at White Castle were young. Nor did I ever expect charity for I have worked all my life for what I have.

But alas the fools who found this post had to spend many hours from their life searching for it or other wise were asked by their boss or office to follow up and make me look fooliah which by the way I do not feel either foolish or cheap.

Simple you provide a service or product and you deserve to be paid for it. You offer a discount and renege that is cheap and misleading.

Me I have no intentions of walking into White Castle and asking for a hand out they offered a 10% discount read please where I listed them.

I have gone to many of these stores and have received the discount as they have listed. I can say it was a good feeling for it was far from .30 or .40 cents as another noted.

So have a field day as White Castle is becoming more popular around the Rip Off report area. I believe they also own Checkers who sends fliers to many homes if not all in the area to get special; discounts not is that cheap or dumb to use them not at all for the purpose is to attract more business.

There once was a bit of a hassle.
At a Long Island New York White Castle.
When an elderly man sought a discount.
And wasn't charged the right amount.
He started to wrangle and wrassle.

Oh White Castle have you no shame.
The elderly man casts the blame.
To the young and the feckless.
Who treated him so reckless.
In refusing his discounted claim.

I may have filed a report but certainly have not sat here looking for any report! Just answer a quick question how did you find this report by looking through thousands of reports?

Adolph who has retired from some CEO position now that is funny! Tell us Adolph in all your worldluy wisdom how do you overcome your ignorance. If you did retire from some meaningful position you would not be sitting at yuour pc reviewing rip off reports. Time consuming and extremely tedious so get a real answer.

Monica your words are very well placed. In fact so well placed that  you need to include yourself in the get a life phase.

Coast yet another person who can actually sit here and search through the thounsands of complaints as I am sure mine truly stuck out.

To all of your with those sharpened pencils respond back intelligently such as how many other responses have you made to other reports! I bet your names will not appear here anywhere.

To sum it up White Castle did in fact rip off people by it refusal to honor the discount be that discount one penny or a million dollars.

The Attorney General would do his due diligence if in fact I was or someone were to file a complaint.

So my last reply to all of you is seriously get a life. Sorting through the many reports is certainly time consuming and more like you would have to know specifics to find this report!

Good night folks

The state attorney general has more important issues to deal with than your greasy spoon discounts.

Your accusation that the responders are White Castle owners is a cop-out in your attempt to dodge the issue at hand. The issue is that the location you visited does not offer discounts to seniors. That does not constitute a rip off. IHOPs policies are not relevant.

I agree with Ramjet, the youngsters deserve the discounts.

I guess you're not the sharpest pencil in the box, eh? ] I am 75. Me work? That should be a no brainer. QUOTE: "Typical front office;tactics!" I assume you're assuming I somehow speak for the WhiteCastle 'front office'. Had I retired from working at any fast food restaurant, I would not be alluding to a satisfactory (retirement) spendable income. That isn't generated by flipping hamburgers at any fast food restaurant. It amazes me how so many contributors immediately assume any post less than derogatory in nature is "from the company". If you'd have paid ANY attention, I said nothing either derogatory or positive about White Castle.

Simple if I am wrong then a quick Google search will show this. This seems to become the defense board for White Castle!

All I do want to say is they failed to live up to their giving senior discounts! I truly believe it is wrong not because anyone is entitled to discounts rather then offered and promoted thios.

Good Day!

Time for a little minutia........sort of rampant in this thread anyway

AUTHOR: Adolph - (USA)

"Rich" alludes to the (White Castle), QUOTE: owner/franchisor. Strangely, White Castle doesn't have "franchises". Their company is privately held and all of their stores are 'company owned'. That has undoubtedly stifled their expansion and is sort of unique in the restaurant business.
White Castle is somewhat of a weenie business compared to McDonald's but their per store sales are second only to McDonalds. Founded in 1921 they are the oldest 'hamburger store'. That, of course, means anyone working in a White Castle restaurant is a 'company employee'
of sorts.

I believe I just proved a point! People over at White Castle corporate or the franchisor have been replying to my post with guilt!

Tell me how would you know where to look for a complaint such as mine? No where unless you have some personal interest or guilt.

The questions and answers were designed to make me look like I was falsely reporting or otherwise stretching the story.

Nice try guys but in my opinion it only made White Castle more visible in the negative with your dumb posts. But it is what it ois White Castle in Massapequa L.I. 11758 truly stinks in service and overall policy. Just a quick not that the people behind the counter are not teenagers ad certainly need toi learn how to respond to a customer. No not saying they remembered me and tried to extract revenge just poor managemet there compared to other White Castle locations!

Rather i will say that if you have some intelligent remark I may consider it worthy of a reply otherwise go back to reviewing these reports as you have mine.

Actually very strange that someone would find this small report on White Castle and so many idiotic replies from you and the team that White Castle has assembled. Whatever your mission in life I hope you have great success, just realize this me I do not personally care if you stand on your head and spit wooden nickels just more of a waste of time.

Try and have a god New Years. NYPD is giving tests for new recruits and with those poor skills they will never accept you bye bye

In your original post you stated..
Upon ordering my food I asked for the senior discount which White Castle boasts they offer

Then in post #6 you stated
I realize that begging was never my style but when i rceived this email I said hey why not?

Okay so one could logically take from that comment that it was White Castle itself who sent out this e-mail.  BUT..and this is the big issue is in your post #7 you post this e-mail.  Where we find out that it does not appear to be from White Castle.  In fact there is absolutely no source as to this e-mail.  Perhaps the writer of the e-mail left out important exclusions.

So if we get this right you are in fact complaining about not getting a discount at White Castle from an e-mail that doesn't even come from them.

Seriously, does anyone else see the problem with this logic?

As for this other comment
I go to IHOP and they immediately offer the Seniors Discount and no I do not look old but they do see the grey hair and apply good business sense to keeping the customers happy.
- I know many people in their 40's and early 50's that have Grey hair.  If that was the sole criteria that IHOP was using that is just a lawsuit waiting to happen.  After all you get the wrong person who does not like to be called a senior citizen, all they have to do is find the right lawyer and the next thing you know IHOP is being sued for a million dollars.

Humiliated? That is funny and how do you make that judgement ? Gee I bet you never use coupons for anything and that senior discount is above you to accept am I correct?

I go to IHOP and they immediately offer the Seniors Discount and no I do not look old but they do see the grey hair and apply good business sense to keeping the customers happy.

I can only say yes my pension is most likely better then average along with my SS pension, but I planned and worked for it unlike those who totally are dependent upon SS to survive. I also shop with coupons especially as they offer a savings and save when I shop smart.

So again to you and those who believe senior discounts and other coupon discounts are humiliating! I say look at the whole picture some of those savings allow others stores to survive. The money that is saved as a result of these discounts does allow more to be spent in our sick and weak economy. So in closing I will say if they is a bargain and itr is not demeaning or criminal I myself  will go for it.

You on the other hand dig deep and refuse to accept any discounts be it seniors or coupons period.

Have a great New Years!

POSTED: Saturday, December 31, 2011

Well some of the responses here seem to be manufactured! Could be the answers are coming from the owner/franchisor? Whatever it is remember when you go to a store and they advertise an item of they can not provided the item they well give you a rain check. Why because they were honest and sincere in their advertisement and not looking to deceive anyone hopefully

My point is simple that if you do not want to provide a discount then do not state you will or go to sites pretending you do. Now that is a simple request isn't it?

Can I afford to pay full price you bet I can as I earned my money all the way from the pits poverty to being some what comfortable so no charity here. But neither should I have to expect to accept lies and misleading advertisement.

The staff at this White Castle were far from teenagers and should have respected me and replied with a simple no we at this particular White Castle do not offer this discount instead of saying yes and upon examing my bill found it was not there! Returning to the counter and having the crowd in there stare at me as if i was looking for a hand out or some pity was yes awkward to say the least!

So to all those who response with a foolish answer I say you are neither a true senior or another who is affiliated with White Castle good luck and please never ever ask for any senior discount anywhere.

A senior discount is a nice way of saying thanks glad you made it this far and we appreciate that along with your business, not begging.

And, Heaven forbid, before you are overcome with "righteous indignation", let it be known that I, also, am a senior citizen.  Albeit a senior citizen with a sense of humor, slightly skewed though it might be.

Re: Social (in) Security

AUTHOR: Adolph - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, December 30, 2011
Ramjets contribution coincides with my thoughts too. For years I have wondered (and been somewhat puzzled) by the term and policy senior discount. For starters, Im 75 so have had this issue with complete legitimacy for years. The young family(s) starting out, often working minimum wage and feeding a growing family, are truly the ones deserving a discount.
.
Being retired for 16 years, I can still recall the struggle of my early life working for minimum wage during and immediately after high school and college. That was when a blown tire on the way to work was a major financial obstacle.
.
Now, after the children are long gone and also after leading a somewhat austere life, my disposable income is many times that of my youth. Discount? Yeah, I wont refuse it, but particularly in these tough times the aforementioned young families are the ones who truly need and deserve it.
.
While on the subject of money and senior citizens, nothing angers me more than those who proclaim how does the government expect us to live on social security? The answer, is of course, that was NEVER the intent of social security. Its a supplement, get it? Not something on which a person is supposed to depend upon exclusively. Thats never been a secret to those who paid attention. In addition, the way in which the age when one may collect social security is rising, its sadly evident the future generations wont even have that available until theyre ready for the big dirt nap.
.
Sorry.drifted a bit off subject.

I know that i do not walk with a cane or need assistance but was of the age where I was in the group that was being solicted so I went. As far as me being rude or otherwise fresh that is a misconception or assumption on your part. I was at all times reserved and polite.

Actually I don't even understand why we have senior discounts and I'm 69.  It's OK if someone offers me one but they certainly don't owe me anything for getting old.

I think we should expect to pay the same as the young people who are trying to get started and are raising families and trying to get through college. They're the ones who really need discounts, not us old geezers.  Usually the 'senior citizen' part of the menu is pretty pathetic anyway.

Now they think you're just a cantankerous old coot.

Well I guess having to stand there and ask for a senior discount certainly was not embarrassing. Rather being fooled and telling me it was applied going back to my table reviewing the check and finding out I was lied too!

Returned to the counter and explained that the register person told me she applied the discount to my check, to be told we do not offer or give senior discounts in a loud voice so others turned their head and looked at me like I was the wrong person. Of course I had to explain myself while being red faced in a store full of customers.

I went on to explain the many White Castle's I had frequented provided me with a senior discount. Only to hear from the manager i was lucky they had as White Castle has no senior policy. She also asked which castle and i explained the one on Deer Park Ave several times and the one on 110 just south of the Walt Whitman mall. Both these locations were more then polite and proper. her retort was just you got lucky and saved some cash but we do not do that here.

To you it may not be embarrassing but to me i did not need all eyes staring at me and hearing my conversation. A excuse me sir but we do not extend senior discounts at this location would have sufficed period before it became hostile from the counter personnel.

Next time I have received a letter from their corporate promising me it was fixed and the same happened once again.

Sorry you do not agree but you were not in my shoes.

Your statement "Upon ordering my food I asked for the senior discount which White Castle boasts they offer. I was humiliated by the staff at this location. " just begs the question "In what way were you humiliated"?

Definition of humiliate : To lower the pride, dignity, or self-respect of.

How did asking for a senior discount cause the staff to lower your pride, dignity, and self respect?
How?
I'm not getting that.
What did they say??
I can see being irritated at not getting the senior discount, but how could a bunch of teen-agers at a White Castle humiliate you??
What could they have said that could in any way humiliate an adult?
What?
Why was this included in this report?
I'm flabbergasted! (struck dumb with astonishment and surprise).
Actually these types of statements are often used to garner sympathy for the poster. I'm not buying that part.

Confused

You waited several weeks between visits.  It seems almost impossible that they not only remembered you over the hundreds of other customers, but had it in their mind that the next time they saw you they would "get even" because you contacted the corporate office.

How exactly were you treated the first time you asked for the Senior Discount, and how was the 2nd time worse?
