Wingate is involved with a group of Gold Coast developers who engage in fraud, money laundering and misleading and deceptive conduct. The financer also stole $2,000,000 from Gold Coast developer and scammer Roberto Badalotti who threated to shoot a Pastor of the church. Badalotti is being investigated by NSW police.

Wingate lent money to another Gold Coast Developer William Odwyer of Ralan Group who is being investigated by the Fraud Squad for running two sets of books. Ralan Group Collapsed Leaving Creditors $500m in the Red.
