I contacted World Law Direct (WLD) about what to do about a breach of contract and paid the $9.95 fee to get an answer to my question. In my initial question, I explained the details of the contract including that we are in Pennsylvania and the other party is in Kentucky. WLD advised me to file in small claims in my state against the other farm. Which I did at a cost of $200.
We had a hearing in PA and the other farm got a "change of venue" where the judge said I had to file in Kentucky which WLD did not tell me could happen! After some investigation on my part I discovered that I need to file in circuit court in KY instead of small claims court due to the money amounts involved. I contact WLD about who is their affiliate in Kentucky since they claim to have attorneys in all 50 states and what would it cost for them to represent us. While they claim to answer fee questions for free and that they respond to all such questions, they did NOT reply to my inquiry.
So, I paid another $9.95 fee and asked my question of them AGAIN. Again, no response. I emailed them several times. Finally I called one of their attorneys (I had his phone number due to another case they were supposed to doing for us) and complained that I was not getting an answer. I got an email back saying he would be in his office one day after 7 pm. Unfortunately, I had an emergency that meant I wasn't home. I emailed that I needed to reschedule and for weeks did not get a reply.
I emailed 8 times since the first of the year, 2012 wanting answers on both issues that WLD was supposed to be handling. I got a reply, that the attorney would call me if I would be home as they didn't want to waste their time. Since I was a client and have paid them, I hardly see my attempts to get information as a WASTE of anyone's time. So, after letting them know when I am available again I still did not get a response.
So, I sent a 10th email stating that since the attorney was too busy to waste his time calling me, he could email me the info I need. The reply: "Hi---the board has actually declined any new project here. We would be unable to proceed or advise. ... As a courtesy you may reach the attorney on Saturday at approx. 11 am at *** *** ****. He has not been cc'd on any of these emails. Your last payment of 9.95 will be refunded. Thanks!!"
I called the attorney and he says they will not take the case since his staff doesn't like me for running them around with constant emails. I would have been happy to stop emailing them if they had given me any information!
So, they gave me bad legal advise (file in my state small claims court with no warning that the other party could get a change of venue) and then abandoned the issue because the staff doesn't like me for wanting an answer to a legal question I paid to get an answer to (totally unprofessional). Don't waste your money!
