#1 UPDATE Employee
WORLDCOM EMPLOYEE RESPONDS
AUTHOR: KAREN - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, May 15, 2003
I was a supervisor at the Phoenix Customer Service Center before WCOM filed for bankruptcy. You are one of the 1000's of people who filed the same complaint.
Bernard Ebbers the CEO, started as a salesman and ended it that way. From the beginning I saw a company who was gung h*o on sales but not on long term customer care or support. They had millions of sales people pushing phones on people and a small customer service staff. The salesman made sales but never entered the contracts or sent the documentation in until 3-4 months after selling the phone.. that is why you never got your bill till 6 months later. The billing system was a nightmare, theft and misuse by employees in NY and other areas were rampant (cellular accounts that held balances of over $200,000), and management did not care. Anyone who cancelled their contract was charged $250 early termination if not more for their equipment as well, even if you were military reporting to duty or moving somewhere without service available!!
At the end I witnessed mad dashes to the shredder, employees bilking time and cellular equipment, and managers rushing to cover everything they had personally done. The company charged me personally for 6 months of benefits and I never once got an ID card or information, and they refused to refund any of it to me. Good try now though, there is no one to contact with the ongoing bankruptcy.
I witnessed so much, and felt for so many customers that I could not help. You cannot imagine all the horrible things this company did to its subscribers!
