Xoom is an online international money transfer service. We offer a secure, fast, and inexpensive way to send money.
Recipients do not need a bank account or Internet connection to receive funds. Senders can fund their money transfer with a credit card, debit card or bank account.Xoom partners with select money transfer partners to provide a convenient, secure, and cost-effective means of sending money to family and friends abroad. We constantly work to expand our money transfer services around the world. Please check back to see our growing list of countries and money transfer services.

However, nowhere we could easily find do they say that you cannot send money for the purchase of goods and services.  The competitors do not have such restrictions - so in the future we will us Western Union.

We created a money transfer, only to find out that it was canceled because of this.  What we were not told was that they took our money anyway.

When we saw this in our bank account, and called them, they refused to admit that they had taken the funds, unless we "Proved it" to them.  We sent an email tot heir customerservice@xoom.com complaining about this, and the reply we received just contained a case number.

We have informed them that we will give them 24 hours to return our funds, or we will turn the matter over to our legal counsel.

This service is to be used very cautiously, as 1) they fail to make it clear what they will or will not accept - we believe this is deceptive, and 2) they fail to indicate that the funds will be taken or attached even if they cancel the transaction, and 3) their customer service is located in an offshore call center that has full access to whatever payment methods you used, including your bank accounts and financial information.
