A month ago I signed up for a personal training package with Xsport Fitness in Chicago Il. After signing up I noticed that there was a misunderstanding in the prices and THE SAME DAY I told the sales rep that I wanted to cancel the package. They said they couldnt because they had put it in the system.

They proceeded to give me a number to call to cancel the package. After holding for over 15 minutes I was told that I needed to send a letter via certified mail to a P.O. Box in Aurora in order to get my money refunded ($276.00) and to avoid them charging me ($276) for the next couple of months.

I did exactly as I was told and sent the letter via express certified mail as they said I only had 3 days to cancel (even if I hadnt yet had 1 single session). Please mind you this cost me and extra $14.10 in mailing fees.

A month later not only had they NOT refunded my $276.00 but they caused my checking account to go in the negative by charging me an additional $276.00. Ofcourse I got on the phone to try and resolve this issue, I was literally on the phone for over 1 hour, everytime I spoke to a rep they would put me on hold and the call "would get disconnected".

So after I finally bugged them enough to get them to notice their "mistake" they agreed to refund me $552.00. According to them they couldnt refund me for my overdraft fee of $36.00 because they had 30 days to refund my money. They said they would mail me a check "this week". Mind you I have no money in my account, my account is in the negative and on top of that
I could neither get nor find anywhere online the contact infor mation for the CEO of the company or a central office to file a complaint.

This company has caused great grievance in my life due to their irresponsible handling of a situation that was supposedly resolved a month ago. I would love to get in contact with the CEO directly to bring up this issue but like I have stated it has been impossible. Please tread with care when dealing with this company.

NOT SO BAD!!

AUTHOR: Rayan - (Canada)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 06, 2011

I have recently requested to cancel a membership due to a sudden move and was still within my 30 day money back guarantee. I did as I was told (mail a certified letter of cancellation to corporate office) and made sure that I fulfilled the requirements to make me eligible for the 30 day money back guarantee (made at least 10 visits to the gym within the 30 days and completed my complementary session with a fitness trainer). I called the corporate office number I was given by the gym to confirm that they received my letter and for some reason it would not work! I started to get worried after I read a couple of bad reviews old members such as yourself  had posted about their experiences dealing with corporate and how they were "ripped off" by captial fitness and x-sport.

So I went on to call X-sport's customer service manager and left a message expressing my concerns. To my surprise, my problem was quickly resolved when I received a call-back from her within less than an hour of leaving her my message. Not only was she very helpful in solving my problem, but she was also very nice and professional. She even gave me the option of having my refund debited back to my credit card automatically so I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of depositing the check myself.

Perhaps what happened to you is completely true and if so I am sorry that things happened like that for you, but my experience was no where near what you described. X-sport fitness is a great gym and had it not been for me moving to another country, I would've definitely stuck with them. Both their staff and services are wonderful.
