On May 21, 2010 around 9:11p.m., I entered the Xsport Fitness at 819 S. State Street, Chicago, Il 60605 for a two-hour workout. I arrived around this time to avoid crowds and peak periods. I brought along my Toshiba laptop, so that I may utilize the complimentary WI-FI to complete a few business-related projects. When I entered the locker room there were only two other women visibly present, one being a member who was approximately at a distance of 15ft or greater walking in the opposite direction and a staff member who was cleaning the second-closest mirror to the locker cubicle near the entrance.

Upon completion of my workout around 10:56p.m., I returned to my locker (locker 28) and was shocked to find that my laptop and all of its accessories (with the exception of my beige fleece) had been removed from the locker with no apparent removal of said lock. I immediately approached the front desk, completed an incident report, and proceeded to search the remainder of the lockers, trash cans, and the 2nd floor workout area for any remnants of my possessions. After this futile attempt, I returned to the front desk where I completed police report. During my inspection, I noticed faulty latches with open doors and locks intact.

In addition, I spoke with other members who expressed concern regarding the safety of the locker latches and reports of missing items. Management as well as law enforcement has informed me that there have been multiple issues of theft related to the Xsport Fitness brand and the State Street property. I am deeply disappointed and at this time will not recommend this company to anyone. I've contacted corporate SEVERAL times and have received no response or reimbursement for the stolen laptop and other accompanying items. After receiving my membership cancellation letter (and personally signing for it), the customer service rep stated that she could offer me nothing more than a few months of free membership. I politely declined and requested a manager. She requested that I call back later. I call back twice around 3:00pm and 3:30pm and received the voicemail. I contacted their office 2 more times over the next two days, and three days later from initial contact received a call from the same customer service rep. She stated that she noticed that I had called a few times and wanted to know if there was anything else I needed. I informed her that I had not heard from the customer service manager with whom she suggested I speak.

She stated that she had not received my cancellation letter, and until then she could not assist me. I contacted USPS and received a delivery receipt complete with her name and signature. As mentioned, she had personally signed and received my cancellation and complaint. I promptly called back to the office and received another customer service rep who seemed lower on the corporate ladder than the first. He stated that my incident was alreaday inputted in to the computer and unfortunately the first agent was not available to speak with but she suggested that I contact the administrative assistant of the VP of Loss Prevention. From there I was forwarded to another voicemail. I have left 3 messages for the VP's assistant to no avail. Please AVOID Xsport Fitness and Capital Fitness as a whole.
