Choice Home Warranty Professional Scam Artists Edison, New Jersey

These people are professional scam artists!  I purchased a warranty from Choice in July 2010.  I had very few issues...at first.  In May of 2011, my tenant called to say that the air was not working.  I called Choice and they sent a service representative.  The representative stated that the unit was old and needed to be replaced but he did fix a leak in one of the coils and recharged it with freon.  In August 2011 my tenant moved out.  The next day, I discovered that the air was not working again and it was also leaking again.  I called Choice again, (this was approximately 78 days after the initial call).  They sent the same representative out and this time, he stated that it could not be fixed and needed to be replaced. 

Two days later, I received a call from Choice stating that they could not be responsible for the repairs because the house was now vacant and therefore the claim was denied!  I was absolutely livid.  I called to speak to a supervisor, Mike Lucas, who told me that there was nothing I could do.  I asked for a refund from the money I paid on the policy and he stated that I was not entitled to a refund and if I wanted to cancel the policy I need to write the corporate office.  He then hung up the phone in my face because he didn't like the fact that I was yelling.  I called back several times and asked to speak to Mr. Lucas' manager and he told me that he didn't have one, that he was the top of the command chain in that office and I needed to write the corporate office if I wanted to speak to someone else. 

I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Insurance Commissioner for the State of Georgia and I encourage anyone who has had issues with this company to do the same in their state (insurance commissioners are the legal body that regulate home warranty companies) and I am also looking into class action lawsuits as well.  Companies like this should not be allowed to do business in the United States!
