Purchased X-Box 360 later portion of Sept. 2008. Was informed i would recieve second controller at a later date. Wife was informed while i was present of warrenty. Thanksgiving morning 2008 X-Box stoped working. Contacted Rent-a-Center following morning over this issue. Was then informed i had no warrenty,as i had flat out purchased this item. After removing casing and looking at circuit board. I discovered this item had been repaired in the past by some one. As it had what appeared to be some type of earaser looking material on four electrical parts. I contacted Rent-a-Center again, This time i was informed i had voided warrenty by removing the cover. Not more than 30 minutes earlier i was told i didn't have a warrenty. What of second controller I have yet to hear anything about, and the X-Box 360?

I'm also A Rent-a center Customer

I've purchase multiple things from this Lynnwood location, and they have always been awsome. Last item I purchased was a Washer/Dryer -60 days same as cash, they clearly stated the merchandise is only under warranty while still being paid for, after this you can buy an extended warranty after this if you wish.

Which since you paid cash.... you should have got the extended warranty.

Obviously Rent-a-center jacks up the prices somewhat so they can make a profit also, it's your choice to pay a bit more than other stores if you would like to make payments on something.

But since you paid cash why didn't you just buy a new one or go to Gamestop instead (that's what the specialize in video games).

Also everyone know you void any store or Manufacture's warranty if you open machines up.

There sounds like there is more here than you are saying.

What in your vast repair experience with electronics gave you the idea that you not only could find out what was wrong, but had the parts and tools to fix it yourself? Then you saw an "eraser like material" on "4 electrical parts". Just what about this in your vast repair experience with any electronics led you to the conclusion that it was repaired before and not somthing like that is the compound they use to join parts together.

Also, Please tell us the name of these "electrical parts".

Now, depending on how old the XBox is it may have been under warranty with Microsoft. But since you opened it you would have voided that warranty as well.
