On 9/21/12, I noticed that SiriusXM had withdrawn $230.06 from my bank account. I called Sirius XM Customer Care to inquire about the charge, I was told that my subscription had automatically renewed. I stated that I did not authorize this charge and that I wanted my money refunded immediately and my debit card information removed from the account because I had never authorized them to keep it on file. They stated that they could not remove my credit card information from their records and that the charges were valid. I asked the representative to take a closer look at our account because we have been on a bi-monthly payment plan since starting the subscription in June of last year - which raises the question...if I got a 1 year subscription in June of 2011 why is my account renewing in September of 2012? The representative admited that something didn't seem right and that as a courtesy they would refund us our money in 7-10 days and that they would give us 3 months of free service. I demanded again that they remove my debit card information from their file but they insisted that they could not remove the card information. I gave up and called my bank and asked them to cancel the card that had been charged. Sirius has locked my account and I'm not able to log in to view my billing information. Upon logging in it says that my account is inactive. I wanted to view my billing/payment history because I wanted to share with you the varying amounts that I have paid on my equal pay plan. Some months I pay in the $40 range, some months in the $30 range, it goes up and down with no real pattern. One month it's less, one month it's way more. Unfortunatley I'm not able to log in and customer care says they cannot share this information with me. I have loved my SiriusXM service for the year and three months that I've had a subscription. I was really upset when an internet search returned several links to consumer reports with alarmingly similar complaints and no resolution. Despite my love for this service, I will not be conducting business with a company that engages in shady billing practices. Very disappointed!!!

Changing usernames in mid-stream?

Riversdad did you go back in an UNCHECK the checkbox that authorized the automatic payment. The check box comes up and you have to accept it at first when making the charge on a credit card. If you do not go back in and uncheck it the automatic payment authorization is still in effect.

Hi Gary and Kate -

We apologize that you weren't aware of our auto-renewal policy when you previously signed up with us. Our Terms and Conditions does include this policy which gives us the right to charge your credit card when your subscription is up for renewal. We are able to remove your debit card information from your account file. If we do it may take longer for you to receive your refund. If you would like us to review your account with you, feel free to send us an email with your contact info to sxm_help@siriusxm.com and we'll be happy to help you there.

Thanks,
SiriusXM Digital Care Team

Hi Riversdad -

Are you being charge for a paper statement that you are not receiving? If so, let us remove that fee for you from your bill. Send us an email to sxm_help@siriusxm.com and we will be able to take care of that for you there.

Moot point

Regardless of whether they sent me something or not, it's still an unauthorized charge to a card they've never been authorized to keep on file. If I did default, they would have to file a lawsuit against me and a civil court judge would have to grant them permission for them to take money from my account.

PS...Google "
SNL comments section skit" and watch the video that comes up. It's a Hulu link. I imagine if this were a real game show, you could easily qualify to be a contestant!

I'm not talking about paper bills

Around 2 months before your subscription expires you received a notice from them with the radio ID and the fact that your subscription expires in 60 days. You always have the option to call them or cancel the service on their website.

You received this but probably threw it away because you thought it was junk mail that you never bothered to give a second glance.

Sirius charges subscribers for paper bills.

AUTHOR: riversdad - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, September 22, 2012

It's an additional charge to receive paper bills so I don't actually receive anything in the mail from Sirius. Ever. I do receive a notification in my inbox every other month, usually around the 26th. So no, I don't believe I left anything out at all.  A quick Google search of "SiriusXM billing practices" clearly shows that I'm not the first subscriber that's had this issue. But thanks for your input. Really. I'm sure many members of this website have found you just as helpful as I have.

You are leaving something out

You forgot to mention the fact that you were mailed something stating that your renewal time was approaching and if you did not want to renew then you should contact them to have them you did not want to renew.
