We live in Farrragut Park in Knoxville Tn.

In the last few months, our park has added speed bumps to the hills in our neighborhood. The community was not informed of this action taking place, one morning we left for work, no speed bumps, came home that afternoon and the speed bumps were in place. Take in mind that there is only one way in and one way out of this community.

When we asked our park manager, Mark Farmer about this issue, we were told that due to many people speeding in and out of our neighborhood, this was there way of getting them to slow down. We were told this decission came down from upper Yes Communitity Management.

The problem with this is that the speed bumps are on hills. When the winter months come, and the snow and ice hits, nobody is going to be able to get out of here with their vehicles. We have ditches on the side of the hills and when someone slides into the ditch or into a house , and wrecks their car then what? Who is going to pay the towe truck to get my car out of the ditch, damages to the other persons house, or my time lossed from work? Also what happens if an emergency happens in this neighborhood and we need a fire truck or an aid car in here and they can get in due to roads and weather conditions.  We have lived here almost 8 yrs and never ever during this time have the roads in here been sanded or brined or has there been anything done for weather issues. Mr Farmer told us that there is suppost to be a independent company that is to come in and take care of the roads in here, but we have never seen it happen. We would like to see these speed bumps taken out of the park.

YES! Communities Value Safety

AUTHOR: YES! Communities - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 09, 2013

YES! Communities utilizes speed bumps into many communities to reduce excessive speeds and danger to residents. We have not encountered weather conditions that have permitted residents from entering or leaving the because of the speed bumps; however, if this occurred we would evaluate the circumstances and handle accordingly. Resident’s safety is our first priority and therefore speed bumps are necessary to deter excessive speeding. We value our resident’s feedback and do our best to not only met, but exceed expectations!
