I used Air Parcel Express (APX) through their website shipping-worldwide.com to ship a motorcycle from Washington, D.C. USA to Madrid, Spain. I was told it takes 1 week for air shipping, which includes the time required to get the motorcycle cleared by USA customs. I was also required to pay around $150.00 beyond what I had been quoted by the website, for a "title fee" or something along those lines.

I dropped the motorcycle off on November 30th. I made my flight arrangements for 1 week later, arriving in Madrid on December 8th expecting to pick up the motorcycle and drive to Morocco. I am on a tight budget and have a schedule to keep as I am filming a documentary, and can really only afford to travel in Africa where I can get by on a few dollars a day (or less if camping).

I contacted APX on December 8th to find out what building to pick up my motorcycle at and was told that my motorcycle hadn't even left the USA yet. I was then told it would arrive on December 17th. This was 10 days more than I had budgeted for, and Spain is expensive. I asked for a discount to be applied to my account for this, to help offset my additional expenses from being stuck in Spain an extra 10 days. It should not take more than half a month to get something shipped by air. My request was ignored.

December 17th came and I was told that the motorcycle would not arrive until December 25th! That is nearly 1 month since I dropped the bike off, to have it shipped by air. Ocean shipping costs 1/2 as much and takes that long, but I shipped by air on APX's advice since it would only take a week and made all my travel arrangements based on the 1 week timetable that I was given. I asked for a discount two more times, and was ignored.

After delaying it from November 30 until December 23 they were going to ship it on December 23 and have it arrive around Christmas time (which would be a complete disaster, since the time from December 24 - January 1st it would never get through Spanish customs because of their holidays, etc. and I would be paying storage fees). So I said that was crazy and send it so it arrives on January 1st or 2nd.

I made this request on December 19th. They decided instead to send the bike so it arrives on January 6th, telling me this by email and not allowing me to make the decision when faced with such a later delivery than I had requested. I had told them I couldn't be in Madrid during Christmas to New Years because there was nowhere to stay (everywhere was booked), and had to leave Madrid for another city or be homeless during that time, but I would have taken homelessness if given the choice between that and a January 6th delivery.

After I was to wait 25 days they should have made the effort to get me the bike right after the New Year, even if it cost them a little of the profit they were making on me.

It will have been 37 days since I dropped off that motorcycle in the USA before I receive it in Spain. That is insane, and is four weeks more than I was told when I paid APX. They have cost me A MONTH of expenses living in Europe that I had not budgeted for and cannot afford, totalling nearly $1,000. I am living as cheap as possible day to day in hostels and still going broke. What it has cost me to live in Spain for a month could have gotten me about 2-3 months on the road in Africa, my intended destination.

Worst of all, I am on a tight filming schedule and they have cost me a month of filming time in Africa that I cannot get back or make up for. It has been a disaster for my film project, both in lost time and financially.

Air Parcel Express replies to my emails but always ignores my request for a discount to offset the month of expenses I have incurred because of their ridiculously slow air shipping and dishonest shipping time estimates.

I have never heard of any air shipment taking 4-5 weeks, and they refuse to make any effort to set things right by giving me a discount. And instead of even acknowledging it and apologizing, even if they refuse to give me a discount, they just always ignore my requests for a discount.

A discount would have been a wise business move on their part, cost them very little, and helped somewhat to set things right regarding my transaction with them. Even if they lose 1 customer from this and other postings I am making on the internet it has cost them several times that discount, and there is no doubt they will lose several customers a year over the years once those potential customers read these postings.

Not to mention all the customers they won't get when I don't recommend them to other motorcycle enthusiasts through my website and motorcycle message boards that I belong to. I have come to the conclusion that they care very little about their customers and will neither go the extra mile for you to get your shipment there on time, or do anything to set things right when they screw up. They ship your shipment whenever it is convenient or cheapest for them, regardless of any time estimates or promises given to the customer.

I would be very careful about using Air Parcel Express even if they give you a cheap quote on their website, because you will likely be asked to pay more once you start making the arrangements with them, and will certainly end up paying more in lost time and money when your shipment arrives weeks late.

Remember that every day that your shipment is sitting in a warehouse somewhere it is more likely to be lost or damaged. I hope my motorcycle arrives undamaged when I finally receive it 37 days later. If there are any more problems I'll be back on here posting again.

Another person who complained about APX on ripoffreport.com received a rebuttal on this site from APX that attempted to discredit him, while at the same time going on and on about what a great company they are and how they have big name clients. Which is strange, since when I had a family member back in the USA call them for me, she was given the excuse that they were just a small company.

I know that readers of ripoffreport.com are intelligent enough to know that being a corporation doesn't give one credibility over an individual. So I hope that unlike their reply to the other poster, APX will not play the same game this time but rather address the real issue of their slow shipping and how they are going to make things right. I am the CEO of a small company myself (a film production company, one that really is small), and even though my current film project is my first, I would never treat a customer the way I have been treated by APX.

I gave APX weeks to address this issue through emails before posting on websites like this. I don't care what big companies APX does business with, I care about my own case and other individual clients who cannot afford to have their shipments sent whenever APX gets around to it. I have shipped with APX once before, and while there was a delay of a few days it was reasonable. 37 days is not reasonable.

In conclusion, don't use this company. They will delay your shipment weeks to a month or more and place your cargo at risk of loss or damage by having it floating around warehouses during that extra time. I'm not the first one to complain about Air Parcel Express (APX) on this website and others, and I surely won't be the last given their business practices.

The CEO can reply to this posting if he wants to ask that I contact him to discuss resolving this issue. It is not too late to improve the reputation of his company - if he addresses my situation to my satisfaction I'll add to this posting to let everyone know what APX did to make things right.

TSA / US CUSTOMS / HAZ MAT / TITLED VEHICLE / ABANDONED CAR / NO CONTACT FOR 10 DAYS

AUTHOR: Ceoapx - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 07, 2013

Are some of the flags that this shipment raised.  The first one was his abandonement of his car at our drop off in the airport.  This cargo was tagged as a HIGH RISK shipment under RED ALERT protocol.

This is the second attempt by the shipper.   Please read the entire text of all the rebutals.  The shipper threatened us on to of all that.

End of story.

APX IS GUIDED BY TSA RULES

AUTHOR: Ceoapx - (U.S.A.)

With over 100 thoulsand shipments delivered we are bound to come accross some peculiar shippers who do not realize how complex some shipments can be.  You can see our references at http://www.shipping-worldwide.com/references.html

The shipper SET OFF RED FLAGS ... He is ignorant and stuborn as we have spelled out the FACTS clearly.  The shipper DID threaten me that he would post the DELAY of his shipment all over the net if I did not issue him a $200 refund for his delay ... Being the second bike he shipped out and knowing that the first one had similar delays I found it absurd to give in and in fact I have no legal or moral obligation to do so and moreso after his threats ... AGAIN HERE ARE THE FACTS and I will keep RESTATING THEM for the general public to undestand the complexities involved in shipping Hazardous Matterials, Titled Vehicles, Via Air, Durring a RED ALERT, with FLAGS due to the shippers behaviour ...

This is the second motorcycle the shipper sent with us. He choose to send it at the peek of the season and at a time when Homeland Security placed the Terrorism alert to RED, the highest level. He set off a number of RED FLAGS and due to the nature of the HAZARDOUS CARGO along with his behavior and particular conditions of the airline industry at this peek time contributed to the delay.

1) shipper abandoned his car at our terminal and had to be towed
2) shipper had a tracking device set to his motorcycle
3) cargo is HAZ MAT
4) Customs placed the cargo on hold for examination
5) shipper changed his travel plans as cargo was in pipeline
6) aircraft bumped cargo twice as HAZ MAT gets the last positions and often is left behind

The fist time he shipped we had a small delay "not our fault" and we did the right thing since he is so vocal and threatening us with plastering the web with bad karma towards our company. We paid for his hotel room in Spain that time. This time I did not want to pay for anything due to this delay and he threatened us again ... about publishing his ordeal ... unless we paid him $200.00 ... I finally had enough abuse and declined to pay for any of his hotel or meals as we did the first time.

In retrospect i wish I had paid him the $200.00 ... his postings have hurt us without good cause. We maintain the highest possible service level and adhere to strict rules set out by the Federal Government ... rules which the shipper did not care about or understand.

Hope this explains our position clearly.

Sincerely,

Andy

Andy is lying through his teeth

AUTHOR: Matthew - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 03, 2009

I had let this go, considering it happened THREE YEARS AGO, but I just noticed that Andy decided to sneak a post about it TWO AND A HALF YEARS after it happened! What is wrong with this guy? First, he is the CEO posting on message boards. That is really shady, and unprofessional. Second, he tries to sneak a rebuttal full of lies onto the board 2.5 years later?

Andy, you know that you didn't pay for any hotel bills. That is a ridiculous statement. I complained that you cost me thousands of dollars in expenses while waiting for my shipment, and you didn't care. Your company never made any effort to reconcile our differences about either shipment. I didn't get so much as an apology!

Now that you have come on here, brought this up 2.5 years later, and LIED about paying for my hotel, you've just reinvigorated my ire for your company. I guess I'll have to keep warning people about you guys.

What has really ticked me off is this outlandish lie about you paying for my hotel.

It is so ridiculous that I know nobody is going to believe your nonsense, but it really bothers me that you would go so far as to make up something like that in defense of your sham of a shipping company. It only confirms the depths you guys will go to lie, cheat, and steal your way to profit in the shipping business.

As for a motorcycle being hazardous material, you charge a substantial fee for hazardous materials, which I paid. It is your responsibility to get it shipped. Other companies don't take a month to get a motorcycle shipped by air. The flight takes one day. Even though you chose to ship to Paris and then truck it, that still only takes 2-3 days. What happened to the other 25+ days? Customs does not take 25 days, ask any shipping company.

We all know what you did - you consolidated shipments and pulled a bunch of other tricks to make sure that you profited every penny you could off my shipment, while I sat in Europe bleeding money for a month waiting for my bike.

Then you have the audacity to come on here and lie, claiming that you paid for my hotel when it happened the year before? Complete and utter nonsense!

You, and Air Parcel Express (APX), are the biggest crooks in the business, and the multitude of complaints all over the internet about you are testament to that fact. I only wish I had read them before using your services. You really do get what you pay for, and I learned that the hard way.

What a bunch of crooks. Anybody who uses APX is in for a world of pain when their shipment is delayed, broken, or doesn't arrive at all. Just read the complaints about them all over the net. APX and Andy, you should be ASHAMED.

Air Parcel Express or APX delayed my shipment even more!

AUTHOR: Matthew - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 04, 2007

Air Parcel Express or APX at http://www.shipping-worldwide.com http://www.freight-calculator.com http://www.apx-air-courier.com and http://www.apx-air-cargo.com has informed me that they are DELAYING MY SHIPMENT AN ADDITIONAL 3 DAYS!

They had last promised me January 5-6, now I have been told January 9th. This means I may not get the bike out of customs before the weekend and it could cost me another week of expenses and lost filming time.

This company has cost me and my film project valuable filming time that cannot be replaced.

Air Parcel Express or APX is a scam company, and among the worst I have ever seen. I urge everyone to avoid them at all costs. I have been advised by many people to seek legal counsel regarding this matter, and might do so.

I am not the first person on this site that they have screwed, and there are other complaints on the web if you look for them.
