Aarons in my opinion is a TOTAL ripoff! I own 4 acres so I needed a new mower, went to aarons to get one, all was fine except the harrassing phone calls at work for being 1-2 days late when I had already made arrangements with the management on payments for the times I get paid (2x's a month), they sent people to my home unannounced to harrass me or to try to pick up the mower that I WAS paying on.

Well boyfriend lost his job and I was having medical problems, talked to aarons manager and made things right, we decided to get a different mower(smaller one) so the payments would be lower, yeah right! I was given a smaller mower, but it was NOT a new one like I had the first contract, they took it upon themselves to give me a USED smaller mower that someone else had used, brought back dirty with half a tank of gas in it. The USED smaller mower never worked right, all the steering and wheels were loose on it, but I kept paying on it.

I did get 2 months behind again with medical things still going on so they made arrangements to come pick up the mower, fine but they did NOT showup, instead they came while I was at work, NO phone call, NOTHING, took the mower. I told them I was NOT paying for a smaller USED mower at the same rate as I had on the NEW bigger mower, so they could just keep the smaller mower too.

Well now it several MONTHS later, no calls from them, no mail contact, when all a sudden I get COURT papers saying that they WILL garnish my wages for the amount of $1643.00! WHAT? For a mower that was NOT worth that much? I did not receive anything by mail OR any calls warning me about a pending lawsuit against me with Aarons and IF I am going to have to fork over that much money, I AM getting a mower to show for it! STAY AWAY FROM AARONS...THEY ARE RUDE, LIARS AND HARRASSERS!

Burned 2 many times

#5 UPDATE EX-employee responds

It is INDEED the way the company does business

AUTHOR: Jeremy - (U.S.A.)

As a former employee, I have seen managers take down payment promises for people, hand them over to the next manager in line, and have them call people the next day, before the payment promise was due. They will not work with you in any reasonable way. They'll tell you they will, and then hand the paper over to the next manager to be "worked." They have stats they have to keep up to not get into trouble with the higher levels of management, and that's why they're so rude: they don't want to get in trouble for not "producing." It's a ridiculous way of doing business, and I'm glad I'm out of it. I was just a PT (product technician, aka delivery driver), but I've seen enough bad business practices to last me for a lifetime, thanks to Aaron's.

This is not the way we do business. First off, you asked for a smaller mower with a lower payment and we abliged your request. If you are getting phone calls at work it means that you could not be reached by your home or cell number. You should have updated this when it was changed. We would only call if you are late and you had not had the courtesy to call us and inform us as to when you would make your payment. As stated in the contract you signed, the merchindise is the property of the store untill it is paid in full. Those papers you recieved would have only been mailed if your account had charged off and you still had possession of the merchandise. If a coustomer charges off (60 days late) we have no choice but to file a police report. What would you do if you sold a car to someone on payments and they just up and disappeared,no contact, no payment. Would'nt you be doing everything you could to find them. What would happen if you didnt pay your electric bill in two months? You probably would not be reading this. There is a simple solution, RETURN IT,we have a reinstatement program that lets you get the same product in the same condition you returned it in, and the payments you had made before would have been credited to your account. As to the mowers wheels being loose, they are held on by an E clip. They are supposed to be loose! The steering being a little loose is also normal. There is play in the steering on about 99.9 percent of the riders I have been on. The .1 percent that was tight when new quickly wore in a week. They are just gears, its not a colum like on a car with a power steering box. To me it sounds like you are from one of the other places trying to smear our good name. Let me end it by saying this, we have over 1000 customers that would disagree with you. J.R.
