I rented a washer/dryer from Aarons Rent to Own in Concord, NC.  I told them to hold the dryer until I sold my old one and 3 days later I had them deliver the dryer.

Unbeknownst to me they had set up 2 agreements, one for the washer, one for the dryer.  I didn't realize this until I went to the store and they were charging me $5 per agreement for late fees.

I filed a complaint with the BBB and their response, finally, was to combine the agreements.  My payment only dropped $5 a month so I don't think they combined them at all.  I haven't seen a new agreement and have not signed one.

If you want to swap out your appliances, furniture, etc. the money you have paid them does not apply toward the new merchandise.  They are making money hand over fist by doing this.

If you are one day late making a payment, the phone calls begin on a daily basis.   I want out of this agreement, but I have to have a washer/dryer so I'm stuck for another year.

This company is a rip-off and is making money off of people that have no choice but to rent something.

Yes Really...

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 02, 2013

Rights?  You post on a PUBLIC web site and yes believe it or not, not everyone may agree with you.  So just like you have a "right" to complain, others have a "right" to inform you of how wrong you actually are.

I usually pay on time depending on when my payday falls, so it's not like I pay late every month.

- So do you expect some sort of "gold star" for paying your bills on-time "most" of the time?  The sad part is that you probably think you do, which is also why you "have to" go to a Rent-to-Own place.  Although I doubt you will make that connection.

Even though I haven't seen the contract.  I can guarantee you that your contract didn't say you only had to pay if you had the money.  It said you had to pay a set amount every month on a certain day.  And guess what..if you are late they are going to call.

My payment only dropped $5 a month so I don't think they combined them at all.

-  You had 2 agreements that they charged you $5 each on.  They said they combined them and your payments went DOWN $5.  Yet somehow you don't think they combined them.  Let me guess, math wasn't exactly your strong suit in school.

This company is a rip-off and is making money off of people that have no choice but to rent something.

- You are NOT forced to rent something, that is your CHOICE.  You apparently had an old dryer that you sold.  Was it the newest dryer..probably not but if you sold it, it must have worked.  So it was your CHOICE to get a new one.  What happened to the money you got from the dryer?  Did it go to purchasing a new one?

The only reason you went there was because you WANTED a washer and dryer, you didn't NEED one..and that is a big difference.  I bet there are more than one landrymats you could have gone too.  Inconvienent..yes but until you saved up enough money probably not a bad choice.  So instead of waiting to get one you took the "quick" way out and went to a Rent-to-Own place, and when you did you are subject to the terms they set.

You have no right to respond in a degrading manner.  You do not know my financial situation and it's none of your business!  I usually pay on time depending on when my payday falls, so it's not like I pay late every month.

If you don't want to be charged late fees then PAY ON TIME!  How complicated is that for you to understand?  If you don't want their COLLECTORS to call you, then PAY ON TIME!  Hello???? Anybody home upstairs???
