my husband and i did bancrupcy a few years back and needed a computer and without credit we had no choice but to use aarons rent to own... i will say, that their customer service was great. i fullfilled my contract and paid off my debt in full.
the laptop i got was efficient...it did its job in the beginning. now mind u, i never let my son use this pc, never has it been dropped, scratched, bumped, or even roughly closed within the year i possessed it. directly after i paid it off, which was a little over a grand...i started having issues before the year was up. the pc wouldnt allow itself to be put in stand-by mode and if you did, u would have to reboot the entire pc. i did what i was suppose to, i called aarons, hp, and mircrosoft. they helped me the first time. however, in the end,my warranty was up by only a few monthes, so they werent of any use. my husband would just have to take the back of the battery out and jury rig it to turn on.
the last blow came when my son was home sick and i was on laptop. it worked fine all morning. went to go turn it on and it wouldnt power up. the light was on, but no power was getting anywhere. when the hubby couldnt work his magic, i took it in to a pc repair shop where they, in front of me, tried all kinds of connectors, plug ins, etc to locate issue, turns out it is the motherboard to the pc. after a year, really? wow.. i was horrified when they told me it would be around 400 dollars not including labor. and after looking at different prices and comparing, i knew it wasnt a joke price. but why would i fix it when i couldve gotten a new pc with a warranty for the same price. i had to pay them 38 dollars to transfer harddrive info to a disk. so im out over a grand. i was and am sick. i understand products crap out, i get it, im not ignorant..i do beleive in values and whats right is right and whats crap is crap. and i also understand from a business standpoint, that this is how they make money. they purchase crappy merchandise and sell it for a ridiculous amount of money to people that have NO choice in the matter. does it make it right? h*ll no....does it make me a mad patriot...hell yes. not only did i lose faith in the american dream, ive learned a valuable lesson....never settle for crap...if i need it that bad, ill save my money to get what i need and pay cash. im just downhearted that these kinds of things are ok and acceptable. standards and morals have been so badley rewritten that this is why Jesus is coming back to kill us all. yes, i am mad. im mad that my pc is done, gone. but, the light is, i actually bought a dell, a good product with years of warranty....
thank you

I just finished paying off my computer (early). The whole time i was paying on it the charger would break. For the 8 months i paid for the computer i went through 21 chargers. YES 21!!! They said Compaq and HP make crappy products and they can't do anything about it. However they never had charges in stock even though they had this problem with multiple clients so we'd have to wait weeks for the chargers to arrive. Yet we would still be expected to pay the bill on a computer that you can't use. Great job Aarons you really know how to treat your customers.

What exactly is the issue? How long after your warranty expires do you expect them to fix your computer?
How many months is "a few"? 2? 4? 7?

Lost faith in the American dream??

You filed bankruptcy, lost your credit and you get upset because the computer you bought at 'junk to own' crapped out! Wake up! If your American dream is to own a computer then your expectations are very low. So I guess your American dream is to invest badly and then let the American people bail you out?

First. This is just advise nothing else don't get offended. Rent to own places are rip offs. They are we all know that. Most have good customer service but how could you not when your ripping all your customers off by hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars. 2. Warranties are never honored after the expiration date is over unless your a really smooth talker. And then you can usually only get 50/50 split on repairs. Laptops are known to go out. This isn't a rent to own centers fault. Dell hp Toshiba sony all of them have problems from time to time. Its natural. Dell offers warranties like the rest of them. You get 1 year free manufacture warranty anything beyond that they over charge you for. somtimes up to 300 dollars just for an extended warranty. Most computers especially laptops are outdated after 2 years. Your situation sucks I agree however its not aarons fault. i don't work for them. Used there services a few times but quickly learned it wasn't a good deal when you do the math. I only used it when i was 18 no credit still in high school type of thing. Parts and labor is way more costly then desktops. You really should consider switching from a laptop to a desktop. They are cheaper and you can get betters specs for a desktop rather then a laptop. Again this is of no real value just my opinion.
