I found out thru my credit report which i obtained from Bank of America, this was done in June of this year. I discoevered that AFNI collection agency place $133.00 dollars on my account. After looking into this matter i obtained AFNI contact information and i called them to get some help regarding this issue . All i was told by them that I needed to pay this bill. I asked over and over for some information any info. I recieved nothing so far. Here is what i found regarding AFNI claim. First the $133.00 charge is for Verizon lan line service i had back in 2001 we are now in 2008 and there a thing called statue of limitation is six years. After looking into this matter it seems to m that AFNI just posted is in march of this year making it seem as if i had just recently used is service. This is fraud after searching the internet i noticed how many issue this company has with regards fraud. I was wondering if i am going about it the right way? I need help and advice.

I have posted this website several times on AFNI complaints

www.budhibbs.com

A CONSUMER ADVOCATE website that specializes in helping with debt collectors - they list the TOP 300 worst FDCPA violators here and add more all the time.

AFNI is on the worst offenders list.
You will find info on Statute of Limitations'
State laws regarding recording calls with collection agencies for proof of violations etc.

You can also go to the Federal Trade Commission website for information.

The information is out there on the internet - most people like you just don't bother to look. Did you even look here on ROR?

Here is how to deal with AFNI:

Send a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt to AFNI stating:

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting written validation of this alleged debt, which includes:

- a copy of the original signed contract with my signature
- validation of the original "Date of Delinquency" for this alleged debt
- validation of the "Date of Last Activity" for this alleged debt
- validation that this alleged debt is within the statute of limitations.

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the burden to validate the debt falls on the debt collector. It is not my responsibility to validate this alleged debt for you. If your firm has the info to place this item on my credit report, then you need no further validation of my identity. Receipt of this validation request is being time stamped by the USPS.

Either validate this alleged debt within the 30 day time period as allowed under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or remove it from my credit files

If this notation is not removed, I will have no choice by to take legal action per my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I also file reports with the Attorney General of Illinois and the BBB.
